It has been quite some time since Marvel Studios announced and gave updates about Mahershala Ali’s upcoming film Blade. With the film’s plotline under wraps, fans had always speculated about the story and whether the film was a sequel, prequel, or a straight-up reboot.
Well, a recent update by a notable insider is the cause of heartbreak for millions of fans since the decision doesn’t make sense logically. As per the insider, the upcoming Blade film will have a double meaning as a film!
Mahershala Ali’s Blade Is An Origin Story!
Although this isn’t confirmed news, an insider revealed to The Cosmic Circus that the upcoming 2025 film Blade is an origin story of Mahershala Ali’s character and the infamous sword “Ebony Blade”.
There’s nothing wrong with portraying the origin story of a character, and especially, a well-loved character like Blade at that. However, the problem with this origin story is that Mahershala Ali is 50 years old! Taking to X (formerly Twitter), people talked about how it was a bad idea to depict the origin story of Blade with a 50-year-old Mahershala Ali!

What’s more interesting is that the insider name-dropped Eternals and revealed that the 2021 MCU film was handled in the same way that the upcoming Blade will be handled. Traumatizing the people with the infamous 2021 film, MCU fans have not forgotten Eternals!

As the interview further continued, insider Alex Perez also talked about how Marvel Studios needs to play their card just right if they want to have successful movies. Talking about the sequel to Eternals, Perez revealed that a good film is still on the table if the MCU knows how to play it right.
Eternals 2 Could Still Be A Good Film In The MCU!
Well, we all know how Eternals was. Being a messy film with all the features set up for failure, the 2021 film became one of the most hated MCU films post-Endgame. Well, in his chat with The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez revealed that a sequel to Eternals is still on the table and the MCU could redeem its failure if it plays its cards right!
“I’m not entirely sure if the Eternals will return in a project before Secret Wars. The storyline they originally had set up for the sequel could very well be a story set for the next saga of the MCU if Marvel knows how to play its cards right.”
So all in all, the Marvel Cinematic Universe does have some aces up its sleeves but is waiting for the right time to draw it all in. There has been no confirmation on the news and it all remains a rumor until proven otherwise. Mahershala Ali’s Blade is set for a release date of 7 November 2025 in theaters across the U.S.
