Helldivers 2 is still one of the most popular games out right now, and for good reason. The game is wearing the title of live-service with pride and is doing wonders with it, but the same cannot be said for another huge title.

Recently, the developers of Battlestate Games announced that they will be releasing a new PvE mode for their popular shooter Escape from Tarkov, resulting in criticism from fans after the announcement of the eye-watering $250 price tag that will be attached to the Unheard Edition game mode, However, it would appear that the blows are coming from another very unexpected source.

Why is the New Edition Receiving So Much Hate

Escape from Tarkov`s newest edition will set players back $250.

The new version of the game, the Unheard Edition, will replace the old iteration Edge of Darkness, which included all previous DLC content, but much outrage is coming from the news that fans who own this version of the game will not be entitled to any sort of free upgrade or discount on the outrageous price tag associated with this new update.

This is because Battlestate Games firmly believes that this new addition is not classified as DLC.

Fans can be grateful for little victories as studio head Nikita Buyanov announced on Reddit that those who own the Edge of Darkness version of the game will have access to the new PvE game mode, but this will only essentially be a six-month offline trial.

Helldivers 2 is Also Getting in On the Jokes

Helldivers 2 has responded to the news in a brilliant announcement on X.

While the studio behind Escape from Tarkov was receiving a torrent of complaints from fans, it seems that Arrowhead, the company behind the massive co-op game Helldivers 2, also wanted to have a bit of fun with this news. making a post to the social media site X on the official account, seemingly poking fun at the news in the most hilarious way.

Poking fun at the price of the new game addition and topping the tweet off with the statement “(Not available for free to Super Citizens)” again poking fun at the fact that players who purchased the Edge of Darkness pack will not be receiving the new pack for free or at a discounted rate. The post is down below.

Fans of Helldivers 2 were quick to catch on to the joke, with one commenting, “even democracy is going after Tarkov” while another joked that they were kicking Tarkov while they were down. This shows that game companies need to be wary that fans are not the only places where criticism may come. With fans seemingly on the side of Helldivers 2, it looks like this may have been a very poor decision on the side of Battlestate Games.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Battlestate deserves the criticism? Did Helldivers 2 take it too far with this joke? Will you be willing to pay the $250 price for the new Unheard Edition? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
