Hidetaka Miyazaki is one of the most creative minds in the gaming industry and his talent helped him ascend the ranks within FromSoftware and develop countless Soulslike games with Elden Ring being his latest and perhaps his best one yet.

Developing several games can be challenging but Miyazaki still finds a way to have fun by hiding easter eggs but there is one that has gone off the rails. Miyazaki had to step in and clear the air and go on record that the team is not working on a highly demanded sequel.

Hidetaka Miyazaki Has Bad News for Bloodborne Fans

Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki made it clear that a Bloodborne sequel is not a priority for FromSoftware.
Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki made it clear that a Bloodborne sequel is not a priority for FromSoftware.

Miyazaki sat down for an interview while talking about Déraciné, an original horror VR game made for the PlayStation VR and spoke about how one easter egg led the gaming community into a frenzy.

Many believed it was a subtle hint or confirmation that the studio is working on a Bloodborne sequel, however, it was never the case. Miyazaki clarified this saying:

Okay, yes. Actually, this is just the conversation my team and I had. It’s the type of conversation we have during development, because there are Easter eggs.

However. The Easter egg itself is not indicative that we are going to release ‘Bloodborne II’. I’m not in a position to talk about a possible release of ‘Bloodborne II’.

He further added:

However, we love ‘Bloodborne’; That’s why this Easter egg has sparked so much curiosity. But, I repeat, it is not an ad for ‘Bloodborne II’. It’s just a plot we explore among ourselves, because we love ‘Bloodborne.’

The Elden Ring director had to manage the expectations of the gaming community and others may see this easter egg as misleading but the developers only included it to honor a fellow FromSoftware title.

Miyazaki believed that this little easter egg has caused Sony a great inconvenience for unintentionally giving fans hope for something that is beyond their control. On hindsight, the easter egg has gained such a reaction from the gaming community and it is clear that there is an extremely high demand for a sequel.

Elden Ring Is Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Priority, Not Bloodborne

Director Hidetaka Miyazaki is committed to fully flesh out the lore of Elden Ring through the upcoming expansion.

Perhaps Sony will have a change of heart and ask the developers to collaborate once more after the work for the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion has been completed. It may be a long shot but not entirely impossible for fans to get what they want.

However, Miyazaki is not a fan of sequels and usually works on another project after completing one, although, DLCs and expansions are another conversation entirely. The director has plotted out several key details that were omitted from the base game and intends to explore them in the expansion.

Clinging to the past can be counterproductive and FromSoftware has much to share and would not want to return to something that is already perfect. Perhaps the community should be more accepting rather than demanding and embrace what Miyazaki has to offer.

Fans should appreciate the easter eggs and reminisce the fun times they had and not apply pressure to the publishers. Do you prefer Elden Ring over Bloodborne? Let us know in the comments section below!
