Both Omni-Man and Homelander are satirical versions of the superheroes we have grown up watching. While their people love and hail them as their saviors, the reality is different. Perhaps this completely different iteration of supes is what makes these two so popular amongst viewers. And now, fans will soon get to see Omni-Man and Homelander fight each other in the video game Mortal Kombat 1.

Back in 2023, fans were greeted with the news that Homelander would be getting added to the video game in the ‘Kombat Pack’ and the day is not too far anymore. The first teaser showing Homelander’s gameplay has been released, and it looks like Omni-Man and others may have to take a step back as the Superman dupe is ready to scorch through anything and anyone.

Homelander is coming to Mortal Kombat 1 as part of the Kombat Pack, and we just got a first look into his gameplay thanks to a gory and violent teaser. In the teaser, you first get to see The Boys’ character drinking his favorite beverage – milk – out of a bottle, and let’s just say that whole thing was not easy on the eyes!

Next, Homelander is seen battling it out with Liu Kang, who says, “You have chosen war with a god,” to which the former replies, “No, you have!” Thanks to this little dialogue, we now know that the voice behind the character is not Antony Starr, after all.

Coming back to the fight in the teaser, Liu Kang starts off strong but it doesn’t take long for Homelander to bring out his laser eyes and scorch everything around him, including his opponent, who he then sends flying into an airplane with a single punch. Needless to say, Homelander will be a force to reckon with in the game.

It won’t be long before fans get to pit Homelander and Omni-Man against each other, something which they have been wanting to do for a long time. The battles will finally answer the age-old question of who is the stronger superhero. Needless to say, the fans are pretty excited to have a 1v1 between the two.

Both Homelander and Omni-Man being in the video game is certainly going to shake things up. Given their respective backgrounds, they bring a unique flavor to Mortal Kombat 1 with their superhuman abilities and a no-remorse attitude. The addition of these characters is also a treat to their fans and could possibly bring more traffic to the game from those who have always wondered what it would be like to step into the shoes of these brutal supes and see who among them is the strongest.

You cannot deny that both the characters are quite similar in terms of their demeanor and superpowers, which could get a bit boring in the video game. But worry not as director Ed Boon has revealed that the two will not be each other’s clones.

Speaking with IGN, Boon reflected upon how the video game will differentiate between the two characters, who are both the evil twins of Superman. He stated that for starters, only one of the two supes will have heat vision.

“Obviously we could do anything with the characters, but I don’t think we’re going to have both Homelander and Omni-Man have heat vision or something like that. We’re not going to have them both do all the kind of category of Superman type things. We’re going to divvy up those abilities, so it’s not like it’s just a clone of the same character.”

He further added that Homelander and Omni-Man will play differently in the video game thanks to their main attacks.

“They’re definitely going to play differently. The main attacks are going to really differentiate them, but we’re definitely aware of the assumption that some people were making on, ‘Oh, they’re just going to be the same characters’”.

As of now, there is no exact release date for when Homelander will be flying into the video game. However, given that The Boys season 4 will be here on June 13, it shouldn’t take long for Mortal Kombat 1 to release the character.
