With a rocky beginning making a very controversial impact with the camera angle and the way its main protagonist is designed, Stellar Blade really generated a lot of fuzz. Eve, the main character always has the camera behind her, and other details like body movement made a part of the gaming community enraged about these decisions. But even after all that, the first reviews for this new IP say that it is a solid title, with amazing gameplay and narrative.

The South Korean studio Shift Up is aiming to make millions of sales in the first few days of release with this title. The game sold all its pre-orders on Amazon Germany, so the projections are very positive. Promoting the game’s launch, its director Kim Hyung-tae had an interview in which he talked about what kind of game this action title is, and he even mentioned how players have to play it.

Hyung-tae talked about the controversy surrounding the game, saying that people’s perception of Eve is completely wrong and has nothing to do with reality standards. He said, “The game is a virtual reality, and I believe we need to have opportunities to see things that are not so realistic in the virtual space.” The idea is to enjoy the game without thinking a lot about how it works in the real world.

Continuing to talk about how people have to relax and not think about Stellar Blade as something realistic, he said, “We’re already familiar with reality; we live in it. So when you play a game, I want to be able to see something that’s different from what I experience.” Hyung-tae really thinks that games like this should exist to make people run away from reality, at least for a little while. He also respects the part of the community that does not agree with him.

On April 26, Sony will exclusively release Stellar Blade for the PS5. The game will have Eve as a warrior, who will do everything in her power to save Earth from an alien invasion. With a third-person perspective, this action title has several RPG mechanics to improve Eve’s abilities in combat to destroy enemies faster and do more damage. You will have to travel through ruined cities and fight all kinds of enemies.

I'm a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
