Antony Starr of The Boys does not believe in the idea of superhero fatigue, or the feeling of getting tired of watching superhero movies after the genre dominated the box office for the past few years. He also does not think the people are fed up with it.

Having played a superhero himself, Starr has made a reflection on the thing that has been plaguing the community ever since the onset of the pandemic. He also addressed the rumor about his potential debut in the DCU.
Antony Starr Reveals Why Fans Love The Boys Amid Issue Of Superhero Fatigue
Antony Starr spoke with CinemaBlend and discussed the controversy of superhero fatigue which he himself does not believe at all, but instead questions where it lies. The actor who played Homelander in The Boys stated:
I don’t think the audience is fatigued, let me put it that way. I think the audience is hungry. We were just down in Mexico doing a CCXP down there. And they are hungry as hell for superhero content.

So fans aren’t really tired of superhero content, but the box office results say otherwise. Starr argued that “people just want fresh stories, and fresh ideas, and fresh storytelling.” He says the reason why The Boys worked so well is because of its “inverted universe.”
The main characters are the villains, and according to Starr, they are “not bound” and “not slaves to the same masters.” He also added that they are “not bound to the same moral true north that standard superhero things are.” This is the fresh concept that fans are indeed looking for.
In the same conversation, the actor hinted at the possibility of his joining James Gunn’s DCU. He said he’s “very curious to see what happens around any notion of superhero fatigue when James Gunn’s superhero (projects) come out.”
Starr’s specific mention of the DCU boss may either mean he’s excited about the upcoming movies, or there’s a grain of truth in the rumor that he’s being eyed to play Booster Gold.

The actor mentioned that he could not wait to see what Gunn had planned for the DC Universe. “I think he’s a phenomenal director, producer, talent. He’s one of the biggest brands in the industry,” Starr added.
The speculation brewed after fans noticed Gunn and Starr followed each other on Instagram, which ignited the rumor that the latter has been cast in a role that isn’t officially announced yet. Apart from The Boys actor, there are also other popular fan-casting for Booster Gold, including Chris Pratt and Glen Powell.
Superhero fatigue is still a heated debate in the world of comic book movies, but it can serve as a reminder for studios to take a step back and reevaluate the content they make.
The Boys is streaming on Prime Video.
