With Deadpool & Wolverine only 3 months away from release, fans are excited to see Ryan Reynold’s foul-mouthed mercenary team up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to save Kevin Feige’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. No other Marvel projects in recent years have come closer to exciting the fans, as the film is all set to feature the two iconic characters for the very first time.
With the release of the film’s 2nd trailer, fans are excited as they get to see so many characters, like Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova. Since the film is going to be about Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool going on a MultiVerse adventure, fans thought it would also feature Spider-Man in the film. However, an industry insider breaks fans’ hearts, giving the exact reason for the absence of the web-slinger.
Industry Insider Gives The Exact Reason For Spider-Man’s Absence in Deadpool & Wolverine
The hype for Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine is higher than ever as the film’s 2nd trailer broke the internet. The film is rumored to feature a plethora of Marvel heroes and villains, with some suggesting that the film might feature Spider-Man as well.
For countless Marvel fans, the Merc with the Mouth and the wall-crawler are the ultimate duo. The two are quite similar as both of them have similar superhero costumes and love to crack in the midst of combat. The recent trailer featured a number of Easter eggs and glimpses of known faces that made fans believe that Peter Parker would also be a part of this film.
However, fans would be immensely disappointed to learn that Spider-Man will not be a part of the Deadpool threequel. MyTimeToShineHello (@MyTimeToShineH), a reliable industry insider known for giving scoops, took it to X to inform fans that our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will not be a part of the film because Sony has the rights for Spider-Man and they would not permit Marvel to feature the hero in the sequel.
They tweeted,
They couldn't have Spider-Man in Deadpool & Wolverine because Sony wouldn't allow for something like that

Clearly, Marvel fans, as well as fans of the superhero, were not thrilled to hear the reason for the character’s absence from the film. As a result, the news brought backlash from the fans as they took to social media to express their disappointment at Sony.

However, fans should not lose hope because this film is Marvel’s most-hyped project. Surely, the film would feature some sort of surprise that would make fans forget about Spidey’s absence from the film.
Shawn Levy Promises A Massive Change in The MCU
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always burdened its fans with watching every previous project just to enjoy the latest blockbuster. Shawn Levy has noticed this poor practice from the superhero franchise and promised his viewers that this won’t be the case with his upcoming blockbuster.
The 55 year-old filmmaker has made a bold promise of making Deadpool & Wolverine a standalone hit. He has ensured that his film is designed purely for entertainment, ending the need to do “homework” before going to a movie. During an interview with The Associated Press, Shawn Levy explained his plans for the upcoming film to be available to all.
He said,
“I was a good student in school. I’ll do my homework as an adult. But I am definitely not looking to do homework when I go to the movies. I very much made this film with certainly a healthy respect and gratitude towards the rabid fan base that has peak fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world. But I didn’t want to presume that.”
He added how his upcoming movie only wants to entertain its viewers, and casual moviegoers can join in this fun without doing “prior research.”
“This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research.”
Shawn Levy’s words would be music to the ears of casual moviegoers, as they would have felt intimidated by the daunting task of catching up on years of Marvel projects.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit the big screens on 26 July 2024.
