Since Cage is stuck in a time loop, he has to figure out a way to save the planet while dying again and again and waking up on the same day (like Palm Springs). With the film ending right where it begins, the cut-to-credits scene of Edge of Tomorrow has been praised for being witty and completing the loop.

Captain Cage wakes up a few days later with the news that all the Mimics died due to a mysterious power surge in Paris. He returns to Heathrow to find Vrataski (Emily Blunt) working. Since she doesn’t recognize him, she asks Cruise what he wants. With a smile on his face, the film ends with iconic music with the credits rolling. Fans hailed this as one of the greatest cut-to-credit scenes in the history of cinema.

From thanking his co-star Emily Blunt to praising director Doug Liman, Cruise had a lot to say about his 2014 film. However, the actor is not the only one who remembers the movie fondly. Emily Blunt has stated multiple times that she also wants a sequel to the iconic film.

During her discussion with Variety, the actress talked about how there is indeed a plan for Edge of Tomorrow 2. Blunt revealed that even Cruise has been waiting for a sequel.

Doug [Liman] and I talk all the time about it. I know Tom wants to do it, hopefully, at some point. But it’s timing, but it’s also been 10 years since we made it.

She further continued,

There was an amazing script in the works, but I think it would only have worked if we shot it eight years ago. I’m not saying we’re that ancient, but you have to factor in it’s been 10 years.

Starring Emily Blunt, Tom Cruise, Bill Paxton, and, Brendan Gleeson in prominent roles, Edge of Tomorrow received a rating of 7.9/10 on IMDB and a whopping 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. With plans for a sequel, fans can only pray that the project gets greenlit.
