Despite the presence of stunt people on the set, Robbie insisted on doing one challenging choreography on her own. She did it successfully, but it seemed like a bit of misfortune followed her that day.

James Gunn Reveals Margot Robbie Did Her Own Stunt In The Suicide Squad

During an interview via Jimmy Kimmel Live, director James Gunn shared the most difficult thing he asked Margot Robbie to do on the set of The Suicide Squad was something he never thought she would be able to pull off.

There’s a scene in which Margot is being hung up by handcuffs over her head, and she has to get her toes along a dead body and pick a key off of the dead body, flip her toes backwards to put the key into the lock over her head, unlock it, and then come down straight.

This sounds really tough to execute but the actress insisted on not using a stunt double for the scene because she could manage it on her own.

She is like a human Swiss army knife who was able to flip herself backwards. It was honestly my favorite day. Torturing Margot was my favorite day on set, and watching this scene with her flipping backwards was just beyond incredible, and I was so happy that it worked, and I was mesmerized by it.

Fans could tell Gunn was so in awe of the actress that he did not notice there was a technical error in the scene that completely put Robbie’s effort to waste.

I got into the editing room with the footage, and you have this little cuff on your outfit that covers her face, so it looks like it’s a stunt person,” Gunn explained. The Guardians of the Galaxy director regretted not bringing scissors to cut those tulle sleeves.

Margot Robbie Shares Love For Doing Stunt Works

Margot Robbie is not your ordinary Barbie star. She expressed her love for performing stunts and is a big sports fan. She told ET Online:

I’m a little less formidable than Harley Quinn, I’m sure. I love stunt work, so I really, really love it. It’s just cool to work with an amazing stunt team… they got me doing everything else really, other than critical acrobats, so it was fun!

The actress previously admitted that performing stunt scenes has affected her sleep because her body keeps feeling the adrenaline rush she had while doing those moves. Still, the actress has no plans to quit stunt work.

It’s truly amazing to know that Robbie puts in the effort and initiative to bring to life Harley Quinn on the big screen in the most authentic way possible.
