Jessica Alba recalled playing the role of Sue Storm in the 2005 film Fantastic Four in a recent interview. While many believed that Alba was done with the role after her nightmare experience in the film and its sequel, the actress shared that she would jump at the chance to return. Alba’s revelation has got some fans excited for the return of the original cast.
Marvel announced the new cast of The Fantastic Four on February 14 this year and Vanessa Kirby is all set to play the role of Sue Storm. However, Alba’s character can potentially return in a multiversal crossover event in any of the upcoming Marvel films.
Jessica Alba Would Jump At The Chance To Return To Her Fantastic Four Role
Jessica Alba‘s new film Trigger Warning hit Netflix last weekend. Ahead of the release of her new film, Alba appeared for an interview with Entertainment Tonight where she shared her thoughts on her earlier roles. When asked about the Fantastic Four role, Alba surprisingly had only great things to say about the film.
Alba shared that she loved the two Fantastic Four movies and revealed that playing Sue Storm in the superhero movies changed her life. She shared that she got to meet her now-husband on the set of the film in 2004. Alba is married to Cash Warren, the son of retired actor Michael Warren.
When asked whether there were any discussions regarding her return to the role, the Dark Angel actress shared that no one had talked to her about it. But if offered the chance to appear once again as Sue Storm, Alba would jump at the chance.
She shared that her character was so unique in the Marvel Universe back then as there weren’t a lot of female superheroes. She shared with Entertainment Tonight:
I loved those movies. I mean it changed my life. It’s where I met my husband. […] No one’s talked to me about it, but I would jump at the chance. I love that character and I felt like she was so unique in the Marvel universe at the time. There weren’t a ton of female superheroes like her.
Marvel now has their own Fantastic Four team, with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach playing the four superheroes. However, fans haven’t pushed aside the possibility of Alba or even Chris Evans returning in their Fantastic Four role in Avengers: Secret Wars or other upcoming multiversal films.
Jessica Alba’s Original Sue Storm Role Was A Nightmare Experience
Fans may know by now that Jessica Alba did not have the best time on the sets of her Fantastic Four movie. Many viewers accused the movie of white-washing her with the blonde wig and blue eyes. However, the controversial incident during her time as Sue Storm happened on the set of 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Alba and director Tim Story had some creative differences while filming one of the emotional scenes in the film. Alba revealed to Hollywood.com that the director wanted her to look pretty even during her crying scene. The director’s comments made Alba question her acting instincts and even made her consider quitting the industry. Alba shared with Hollywood.com:
I wanted to stop acting. I hated it. I really hated it. I remember when I was dying in Silver Surfer. The director was like, ‘It looks too real. It looks too painful. Can you be prettier when you cry? Cry pretty, Jessica…’
And then it all got me thinking: Am I not good enough? Are my instincts and my emotions not good enough?… And so I just said, ‘F**k it. I don’t care about this business anymore.’
The Good Luck Chuck actor’s latest statements surprised even her fans after the original movies made her almost quit acting. Alba went on to take a short break from acting after Fantastic Four 2 but returned to the screen shortly after her daughter’s birth.
