Fans have been waiting for the next Fallout installment for a long time. It was 2015 when the last game of this long-hailed franchise came in. However, there is not even a sneak peek from the company regarding Fallout 5. But as things stand, an old game in a new avatar could surface soon.
It’s Fallout 3 that will be on the way. No, no, don’t get confused. It’s the original version, codenamed Project Van Buren that was supposed to be released years ago but got canceled due to some complications. Now, it’s coming back.
The Original Fallout 3 a.k.a Project Van Buren Will Surface Soon
After over two decades of its cancellation, the original game is back and is in full flow as far as development is concerned. The developer of this game, Adam Lacko, has informed us in his X post that the official website domain of this game is back online and a new SSL has also been loaded.
Project Van Buren's website domain has been successfully transferred, and the new SSL has been loaded, so it's back online.
I'll need a couple of days to give it some proper treatment as I promised.
First development blog coming soon.

Van Buren is the codename of the original Fallout 3, which was in development in the early 2000s. The development honors lie on the shoulders of Black Isle Studios. However, due to the bankruptcy of the parent company, Interplay Entertainment, Black Isle was shut down.
As a consequence, the development team also got laid off on December 8, 2003. This title was set to carry forward the legacy of the original series, but it was essentially not a direct sequel to Fallout 2.
Details About the Project
The project is going to be a “retro-futurism meets Mad Max” post-apocalyptic style of the first and second games in fully three-dimensional environments. However, this RPG is going to use the revised version of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system, which was used in the first and second games. The revised system was designed mostly by J.E. Sawyer, which will bring a more systematic and robust approach to the game.
The game will feature both combat systems: real-time with pause and turn-based. It is important to remember that this game is in no way affiliated with or connected with Bethesda.
However, there have been no solid dates revealed on the website as to when the game will launch. But according to the website, despite being in its initial stage of development, the project went through an extensive pre-production process, and thus most of the designs were already ready even before its implementation.
Now, it’s up to Lacko to complete the unfulfilled dream of the original studio.
