Stellar Blade is a new project for Sony Interactive Entertainment and an entry point for South Korean developers over at Shift Up to develop console games, which are non-existent in the country. PlayStation has high hopes for the title and is already doing wonders in console sales.
On the other hand, Starfield was then coined as a Microsoft exclusive and locked the title out of the PlayStation 5, but the weak performance and bad reviews have done more damage than good. PS5 users dodged a bullet there and gained something better instead.
Stellar Blade Making PC Users to Buy a PS5 Before Launch
The ambitious game appears to have appealed to a much larger audience than expected. The free demo was accidentally leaked on PSN, and a handful of users were able to try it for themselves before it was lifted. The demo was then officially released, and players have been praising the game’s physics and spending countless hours on it, beating Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in terms of daily active user counts.
I have been PC-only for a decade now. Got a PS5 just for this game a few days ago, on a whim. We up rn

The game managed to convince other platform users to buy a PS5 on their own just to be able to play Shift Up’s latest project.
The title also benefitted the new owners to explore what PlayStation has to offer and was introduced to the benefits of PlayStation Plus and the variety of games that are available to download.
The demo alone was a console seller, and recent data has shown that users are playing it non-stop, which can be viewed as a positive indication of a warm reception and strong launch, but it has had developers worried and implored them to go easy.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is trying to make do with Starfield and hopes the player count will improve once the Shattered Space expansion is ready to launch which seems unlikely. If Xbox users do not want to be left behind and experience the best of gaming, they might have to bite the bullet and grab a PS5 of their own.
The Stellar Blade Demo Was a Massive PlayStation 5 Seller
It wouldn’t be the first time a PlayStation title tempted Xbox users to test their allegiances, Helldivers 2 is available on PC, but Sony has yet to share the live-service title with other rival platforms. Video games are more than enough to convince anyone that a console is worth buying. The gaming community is witnessing that right now, a few days before the release of Stellar Blade.
Sony is a pioneer in delivering unique gaming experiences and knows how to carefully assess talent, so this collaboration with Shift Up will most likely prove to be a good gamble.
One demo was able to convince decades of other users to jump ship and dip their toes on a different platform, and the general response seems to indicate it was a great investment. PlayStation 5 sales are now looking stellar, and new owners are about to feel the worth of their purchase.
