The character of Jon Snow is a hero through and through and Harington had quite fun while making the series. In a recent interview, however, the Eternals actor revealed that portraying heroic roles is “hard’ and that’s why he wants to play “f-cked up” characters now!

Kit Harington Is Tired of Playing The Good Guys Now!

Back in 2023, Kit Harington starred in a film titled Blood for Dust. In the film, Harington portrayed the role of Ricky and it was not a very positive role. Being a dirtbag in the film, the actor revealed that he was excited to portray that villainous role.

Portraying the role of a sociopathic drug-slinging arms dealer in the movie, Harington has a much different look than his innocent face in Game of Thrones. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harington revealed his transition from a good guy to a bad guy and why he liked the negative role so much more!

“He’s sort of a devil-on-the-shoulder character, the antagonist who’s with you all the way through. He’s like a good-time guy in a bad world. He doesn’t want to have to face reality.  “I rarely get the opportunity to play the Rickys of this world, the antagonistic dirtbag types, and I was excited to be presented with that opposite an actor like Scoot,”

He further continued,

“My heart goes out to people playing heroes. They’re f—ing hard to play and to make interesting. It is more fascinating as an actor, I think, to empathize with someone deeply faulted and wrong, to try and find your way into why they are doing these things. [Playing] a guy who is doing all the right things and is driven by being good, it’s harder to do that.”

On the other hand, Kit Harington’s on-screen best friend John Bradley (who portrays the role of Samwell Tarly) talked about a Jon Snow spin-off and how he wouldn’t mind returning!

After Season 8 of Game of Thrones ended, people wondered whether Kit Harington would return to the world of Ice and Fire with a Jon Snow spin-off on his side. In an interview with ComicBook.com, John Bradley (who portrays the role of Samwell Tarly) revealed that it could be possible!

“I think one thing can’t be any more impossible than anything else. It’s either impossible or it isn’t though … The distance between possible and impossible is massive.”

And although our brave young Samwell Tarly remains ever hopeful, Kit Harington’s recent answer about portraying the good guys doesn’t seem too convincing. Running for 8 seasons with some brilliant characters, Game of Thrones received a rating of 9.2/10 on IMDB and a whopping 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The iconic HBO series is currently available to stream on Max in the U.S.
