Kit Harington revealed shocking news from the past few days that gravely disappointed fans. The actor, who rose to fame for his role in Game of Thrones, is no longer working on two major projects previously slated for the coming years.
The Marvel star laments how his character, Black Knight, in Marvel’s Eternals may no longer return to the screen as nothing is in the works for the time being. On top of that, the Jon Snow spinoff from HBO is no longer moving forward.
Kit Harington On The Future Of Eternals’ Black Knight
During his interview with ScreenRant, actor Kit Harington expressed interest in reprising his Eternals role as Black Knight. He finds the character worth exploring so he hopes to get another shot at portraying him.
“I hope that they do something with that character. I think that character is fascinating and brilliant. And I love his trajectory in the comics. I love the idea of a good guy being turned bad by his superpower. I think that’s brilliant. I’m not sure whether we’ve had a protagonist that’s like that, so I think it’s a really strong idea. I’d love them to [revisit him].”
When asked if anything was cooking at the headquarters, he claimed to be clueless. As it turns out, nothing is currently in progress involving the character.
“I don’t know, though. The honest answer is nothing’s in the works at the moment. If they decide to use the character in something, or as a solo thing, I’d be very excited by it. But I don’t think it’s planned at the moment.”
Eternals emerged as a controversial MCU film because of how heavily scrutinized it was by critics and fans. They slammed it for the crammed, overcomplicated plot points and bland acting.
Jon Snow Spinoff Is Officially Canceled
Aside from the unfortunate fate of Black Knight, Harington’s much-anticipated Jon Snow spinoff has been shelved. In another interview with ScreenRant, the actor explained:
“I hadn’t really ever spoken about it, because it was in development. I didn’t want it leaked out that it was being developed, and I didn’t want the thing to happen where people kind of start theorizing, getting either excited about it or hating the idea of it, when it may never happen. Because in development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it’s worth it.”
As he revealed, the project has been scrapped since they could not find a good material to bring to the small screen.
“Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.”
It’s incredibly sad that Harington lost two major projects almost at the same time, and to think that both are from huge franchises only makes the loss even more painful.
