Ubisoft’s highly anticipated free-to-play multiplayer shooter, XDefiant, is finally on the cusp of release after several delays. The fast-paced free-to-play arena shooter is now available to preload on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with its launch set to happen in a few days.
Going into launch, Ubisoft has released the official PC requirements for the game to allow players on the platform to prepare their rigs, and judging by the specs, XDefiant won’t take much graphical horsepower to run.
XDefiant Will Have Incredible Optimization On PC
Ubisoft disclosed the required PC specs to run XDefiant on its website, as well as a host of features the game will support on the platform, like uncapped framerates, NVIDIA Reflex compatibility, DirectX 11 and 12 support, and widescreen functionality.
Coming to hardware requirements, it’s good news for PC users with modest rigs, as the minimum specifications for the game call for a Core i3-10105F or Ryzen 3 3100 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and an Intel Arc A380, Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti, or AMD RX 5500 XT graphics card.
For a smoother experience at 1080p resolution, Ubisoft recommends a slight upgrade to the GPU, suggesting an Intel Arc A750, Nvidia GTX 1060 (6GB), or AMD RX 5500 XT (8GB). Storage requirements are refreshingly low, with only 35GB of space needed to install the game, although an SSD is recommended for the optimal experience.
Finally, for those with powerful rigs who want to max out the game at full-fat 4K, the Ultra settings require an Intel i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X on the CPU side, with beefy RTX 3080 (10GB) or AMD RX6800 T (16GB) graphics cards. Considering it’s a 2024 game, XDefiant‘s PC optimization is excellent, accommodating a broad spectrum of hardware to ensure almost no one’s left out.
Players Can Expect A Plethora Of Content At Launch
Beyond the technical aspects, XDefiant will also receive a wealth of content at launch. Players will have access to the Preseason content previously experienced during the Server Test Session. This content includes an extensive selection of maps, game modes, and playable factions.
For those seeking tactical variety, XDefiant offers five distinct factions to choose from. Players can go with the high-tech Echelon soldiers, the cloaking-adept Phantoms, the urban warfare specialist Cleaners, the freedom-fighting Libertad, or the technologically savvy Dedsec. Ubisoft fans will recognize these factions from the publisher’s other franchises.
The game will have 14 maps available at launch, from the close-quarter chaos of Arena to the sprawling metropolis of Times Square. Gameplay will also feature a healthy amount of variety, with a mix of objective-based and elimination modes.
Players can test their skills in Domination, a classic territorial control mode, or hone their teamwork in Escort, where protecting a high-value target is paramount. For a fast-paced frag fest, Hot Shot offers a swift, frenzied experience, while Occupy and Zone Control reward strategic maneuvering and map awareness.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of XDefiant‘s launch is the decision to forgo skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) in casual playlists due to Ubisoft prioritizing a fun and varied experience in casual modes, but for more competitive players, a ranked mode will be available with SBMM enabled.
XDefiant is slated for release on 21 May 2024.
