While it’s still too soon to make any opinion regarding the film, the TCU continues to expand with new projects including this one. The franchise’s first installment, garnered a negative reception from the audience, leading the director to improve its quality in the upcoming films.

Earning a 3% Rotten Tomatoes score, the movie surely stands out, leading the director to address the same. As per SFX magazine via Games Radar, he expressed that the low score was a “really strange one for me. He got candid about how he coped with the negative remarks stating

“To be honest, you’ve got to have a really, really thick skin to be a filmmaker because you get heavily, heavily criticized regardless of the means and the resources you have.”

The filmmaker further explained what could have been the reasoning behind such a low score.

“When your film is out there like that, it literally gets directly compared to Marvel films, even though you’re on 0.01% of their budget. We probably didn’t have their catering budget! They’re substantially different. But because of the scale Winnie went to, a lot of the critics did almost like-for-like comparisons.”

Despite the outcome, the film ended up becoming a financial success, surging past $5 million worldwide via the Numbers. Its sequel, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 was an improvement over its predecessor which was released in March this year whereas a third installment is currently in the works.
