Despite being the strongest character in One Punch Man, Saitama has portrayed many different roles unintentionally. He has been a friend and a video game partner with King, a rival to many other S-class heroes, and a teacher to Genos who aims to be as strong as Saitama one day and face him with equal strength.
However, there is one other character who may have learned more from Saitama than Genos ever could and he even got comparatively much stronger from his fights with Saitama than Genos. His name is Speed-o’-Sound Sonic and he has been trying to surpass Saitama since season 1 of the series.
After being defeated multiple times by Saitama, Sonic still tries to improve himself and fight him again till he can defeat him. This proves that maybe Sonic’s resolve to face Saitama and surpass him in terms of strength is stronger than Genos who has been a disciple of Saitama from the very beginning.
Speed-o’-Sound Sonic’s Resolve in One Punch Man
Sonic alternates between being an anti-hero and a recurring villain. His first appearance was that of a bodyguard that Zeniru had hired. He was formerly a part of Ninja Village’s 44th graduation class. Sonic enjoys fighting, but he is driven by bloodlust when facing weak opponents, despite his generally composed manner.
He also has a huge ego; once he decides to kill someone, he won’t stop until he does, and he won’t accept that there is someone stronger than him who has already defeated him. Because he is always losing to Saitama, Sonic is shown to be prepared to do whatever, even give up his humanity, to defeat him by eating a Monster Cell that Hellfire Flame and Gale Wind have provided.
Sonic’s resolve to defeat Saitama has forced him to train harshly and become stronger every time he faces Saitama. He believes that he can become strong enough to one day defeat Saitama which is why he may be a better disciple of Saitama than Genos as he has learned more from Saitama and even got stronger from their battles.
Sonic Has A Better Resolve Than Genos
Sonic now has a new standard for what true strength is thanks to Saitama, which he plans to meet and exceed. It seems that Sonic has learned about his weaknesses and is now training to overcome them, even from his most insignificant losses to Saitama.
Sonic has come a long way since his debut, as evidenced by the fact that his skills are now comparable to those of an S-Class hero. Genos, Saitama’s avowed disciple, appears to be falling behind Sonic in terms of advancement. There’s not much Genos can learn from Saitama because his power increases are dependent upon his cyborg upgrades.
It was Sonic who benefited the most from Saitama in terms of strengths and comparatively Sonic may be stronger in resolve than Genos to come face to face with Saitama and prove his growth to the protagonist of One Punch Man.
