At the 96th Academy Awards, held on March 10, 2024, both Cillian Murphy and Christopher Nolan won their first Oscars and showcased their immense bond by thanking each other in their acceptance speeches. Nolan has also been one of Murphy’s biggest supporters, having discovered the brilliance in the actor early in his career.
However, a video uploaded on Instagram, presumably taken after the Oscars ceremony, proves that Murphy’s wife, Yvonne McGuinness, is the actor’s biggest cheerleader. The video depicts McGuinness hollering in joy as she and Murphy greet some of their friends after Murphy’s Oscar win.
During his acceptance speech, Murphy took a moment to especially thank his wife with the most beautiful words. He said:

Oppenheimer Ends Awards Season With Impressive Oscars Sweep
Heading into the 96th Academy Awards, Oppenheimer was nominated in a total of 13 categories. By then, it had already won 6 Golden Globe Awards, 8 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, and 7 British Academy Film Awards. As a result, the $960.9 million box office hit was a strong fan-favorite in the Oscars race in most of the categories it was contending in.
Aside from Murphy’s Best Actor win, the film won six Oscars, bringing its grand total to 7 wins out of 13 nominations. The film also saw Nolan win his first Best Director Oscar after being nominated for the award for the first time in 2018 for Dunkirk.
At the same time, Nolan won the Best Picture Oscar for Oppenheimer along with producing partners Emma Thomas and Charles Roven.
