The 2nd of March in Tokyo saw the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. A large number of celebrities presented at the event, and numerous awards in many different categories were given out. The eagerly anticipated Crunchyroll Anime Awards, which made its debut in 2017, honor, identify, and commend the year’s most popular series as well as those in the animation industry who put in a great deal of effort to create them.

For the second year in a row, the ceremony was hosted by returning hosts Sally Amaki, best known for her role in Tomo-chan Is a Girl, and Japanese presenter Jon Kabira.

Although a lot of anime series and movies took home these prestigious awards in different categories, the 3 shonen anime that dominated the event for 2024 were Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba.

The Three Anime Series That Dominated The 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards

Livestreamed throughout the world, the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards were given away in Tokyo, Japan. Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Demon Slayer were the three anime series that took home the most honors at the awards ceremony. At the 8th Crunchyroll Anime Awards, Jujutsu Kaisen shattered a significant record that My Hero Academia had held in the past. 

With 11 all-around wins, Jujutsu Kaisen broke My Hero Academia’s record of eight Crunchyroll Anime Awards victories in 2018. The largest honors given to Jujutsu Kaisen included Best Action, Best Director, and Anime of the Year, among many others. Chainsaw Man followed Jujutsu Kaisen with six wins and Demon Slayer came in at third with three wins.

Chainsaw Man’s biggest victory was the Best New Series award. The series majorly received honors for the performances of the voice actors. Demon Slayer on the other hand won the awards for best animation, best art direction, and best fantasy. While fans hoped One Piece could perform great this year, the series took home 2 awards.

The 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards Broke a Major Record

It was the largest edition of the Crunchyroll Anime Awards that was held this year. An unprecedented 34 million votes were cast by anime fans all over the world this year in support of some of their favorite anime films and actors winning the top prizes. This is a major achievement as 18 million votes were cast by fans worldwide last year.

The most actively participating nations were the United States, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Mexico, and Spain. This event succeeded in establishing a very significant record, and it also illustrates the expanding popularity of the anime industry as a media franchise. 

Many renowned artists were spotted presenting and congratulating the prize winners during this year’s wonderful award event, which was another highlight for the anime community. As the award ceremony was dominated by Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Demon Slayer, next year will hopefully shatter more records.
