However, the one thing that is still unknown about the series is “What is the One Piece?” While there have been many theories that have speculated what the ultimate treasure could be, none of them has held any credence and only Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece knows about the real treasure.

These theories not only speculate about the treasure of One Piece, but they also explain where it could be located and how the Straw Hat Pirates will reach the treasure. One such theory has broken all the rules and has stated that the One Piece treasure is on the moon.

One Piece Theory Proves The Importance of the Moon in the Story

A theory posted on Quora by Atrik Das holds that the ancient civilization that Robin discovered at Shandora in the earlier chapters indeed fell from the moon. Due to their immense riches and technological advantages, the moon people were driven from their homes thousands of years ago by space pirates.

They moved to Earth, only to be destroyed by the space pirates that pursued them. However, the Poneglyphs that recorded their history and a small number of them survived the attack. The memory of everyone who saw the horrors committed by space pirates was erased, and all evidence of their presence was destroyed.

This period then came to be known as the Void Century. The space pirates overthrow the World Government and begin dominating the world. Their descendants are now referred to as the widely recognized Celestial Dragons. The theory about the Celestial dragons is also supported by the outfit that looks like that of an astronaut.

Theory States Luffy is the Half-Descendant of the Moon People

According to the hypothesis, Luffy and those with D. as a middle initial are half-descendants of the Moon People. They are the ones selected to overthrow the Celestial Dragons and the corrupt World Government that exists today. This is the notorious Will of D, which has been mentioned several times throughout the narrative.

The One Piece that is on the moon will assist them in doing so, making the planet a more free place. This is what Luffy meant when he stated he wanted to be the Pirate King and the most liberated guy in the world. It also helps that Luffy’s conquest of the moon would figuratively make him the lord of the seas because the moon regulates the tides.

While the theory does have some great points, there are still some holes in the story that decrease the credence of the theory. Nevertheless, it does bring an interesting point of view to the various mysteries that have been left unanswered by Eiichiro Oda in the epic saga of One Piece.
