But for every great scene that the Snyderverse has, there has been an equally embarrassing and caring moment that often makes viewers to gouge their eyes out. While every DC fan would want to cleanse their memories of such moments, here are 5 Epitome of Cringe Zack Snyder DCEU moments:

5. Jesse Eisenberg’s Overly Quirky Luthor Humor in BVS

Jesse Eisenberg starred as Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and to say the least his portrayal looked like as if the Joker was role playing Luthor. Wildley eccentric, and quirky, not only did his portrayal was disliked by many, but the audience also disliked his extreme quirky humor in the movie.

Also deviating from the traditional depictions of the character, Eisenberg’s Luthor was too hyperactive and outlandish that most viewers found it off-putting. Furthermore, due to the writings, Luthor’s exaggerated sense of intellect or traits often seemed to clash with the storyline making him extremely cringe.

While there are several bizarre scenes involving Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, the infamous ‘urine jar’ from Batman v Superman tops it all. In the movie, Luthor tries hard to make everyone see that Superman isn’t some angel as everyone believes but evil. However, Senator June Finch who is done with his tactics, tells him harshly Don’t piss in a jar and tell me it’s Grandma’s peach tea!

Well, when Superman attends the congressional hearing, Finch is given a glass jar that looks like its filled with urine and is marked Granny’s Peach Tea just before everyone is killed off by a bomb. While the scene was gruesome and disturbing, the urine jar was criticized for being needlessly dark and thus, cringe

Ezra Miller‘s Flash faced a lot of criticism, not because of their acting or portrayal, but because of the way they ran in the movies. Specially the race between Flash and Superman in Justice League, which otherwise was supposed to be a funny and cool scene, turned cringeworthy thanks to the way Flash ran.

Appearing as overly exaggerated, the character often appeared to be swimming or flailing instead of running. Fans allege that DCEU should have maybe taken notes from the TV series, which seemed to have perfectly nailed Flash’s super fast run and made it actually look cooler.

2. Martha Scene in Batman v Superman

While most fans would call DCEU’s Batman v Superman cringe in its entirety, there are nonetheless scenes that stand out for being more cringeworthy than others. One of those scenes is the same ‘Martha’ scenes. If you don’t know it already, our caped heroes’ mothers have the same name, aka Martha.

So when both are busy fighting in the final confrontation, Superman says ‘You’re letting him [Luthor] kill Martha! Find him! Save Martha!’ and Batman, not literally, flips out. After getting over his shock a bit, Batman asks ‘Why did you say that name?’, and Superman makes it clear he’s talking about Martha Kent. This whole scene makes a sudden shift from combat to empathy, leading to cring instead of emotional resonance.

1. Henry Cavill’s Mustache-Gate in Justice League

The DCEU has had its fair share of bizarre CGI moments, but nothing tops the visual effects used to erase Henry Cavill‘s mustache in the movie. During the production of Justice League, Zack Snyder had to leave in-between leading to the production hault. When Joss Whedon took over after some time, Cavill was under contractual obligation to have a mustache for Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

And so the special effects team had to digitally erase the mustache during post production, leading to a very noticeable and awkward ‘upper-lip’ of Cavill during certain scenes. This mustache-gate became a huge point of criticism, ultimately leading to such scenes becoming the epitome of cringe to watch.
