Starfield just released on Xbox consoles and PC, and it was a much-hyped, highly anticipated game amongst the gaming community. Players enjoyed the high customization, spaceships, freedom of choice, and more, but one aspect that players really enjoyed was that it was a sandbox set in outer space, complete with thrilling missions. However, Starfield is far from the only game set in outer space, instead is just the latest in a long line that takes us to worlds beyond our own. Call of Duty took to space in its 2016 game with Infinite Warfare, which actually lost a lot of fans, as did the science fiction-like gameplay with jetpacks. But there are some who consider it a good game despite or because of those reasons. The story focuses on a battle around the solar system and has players experience gameplay with action set pieces, FPS, and aerial combat to boot. They also select missions in a central hub world, a huge spaceship, and visit and explore different planets and space stations.

Doom is the reboot of the decades-old first-person shooter franchise, set on Mars where some scientific experiments have gone awry, leading to the gates of Hell opening and the planet being flooded with enemies. The game features fast, frenetic gameplay with lots of guns, gore, and a heavy metal soundtrack that gets the blood pumping as players destroy demons in excessive and over-the-top ways.

Red Faction Guerrilla is the third game in the series, notable for switching from a first-person shooter to a third-person shooter. But that’s not the only switch, as in the story the allies from the first game, the Earth Defense Force (EDF), are now the antagonists as they’ve decided to enslave the population of Mars into forced labor. The player joins the rebellion against the EDF through various means in an attempt to liberate the people of Mars and take back the planet for themselves.
