WrestleMania is one of the biggest professional wrestling events by WWE, and the 40th Annual WrestleMania will take place on April 6th and 7th, 2024, at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The two-night event includes wrestlers from Raw and SmackDown brand divisions fighting for titles including the WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, and WWE Universal Championship.
For the main event match, Cody Rhodes is going up against Roman Reigns, who will be fighting to defend his WWE Universal Championship. Fans across the world are excited for the event, which is either going to help Rhodes finish the story or probably never see him challenge for the title again. 1. The Undertaker: Most Decades With WrestleMania Matches
The Undertaker, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022, holds the record for the longest-tenured wrestler in the company’s history, which is about thirty years. The WWE Hall of Famer holds a bevy of records, including most WrestleMania matches, most WrestleMania wins, and most consecutive WrestleMania wins without a loss.
Regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers, The Undertaker had his first WrestleMania match in 1991 and went on to appear across the ’90s, 2000s, and 2010s. He officially retired from the ring in 2020, and unfortunately, due to the spread of the COVID pandemic at the time, the event was held without any audience, but it was significant for the wrestler and the audience that witnessed the match from home.
His match against AJ Styles was held in a boneyard match, which took place in a cemetery. After winning the match, the wrestler rode off on his motorcycle, bringing his wrestling and WrestleMania career to an end in style.
2. Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart: The Longest Match (1 hour 52 seconds)
At WrestleMania XII, which was hosted in Anaheim, California, professional wrestlers Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart were witnessed fighting in an Ironman match, which is regarded as the longest match in the history of WrestleMania. The match between the two exceptionally talented wrestlers is even today considered one of the greatest matches ever wrestled.
The match that went up to one hour fifty-two seconds holds the record for the longest match, and no match has ever come close to this. After exhausting himself, Shawn Michaels was finally able to pin Bret Hart down and claim the title. During an interview with GV Wires’ Off the Bottom Rope section, Shawn Michaels went on to address the criticism the match received. He said that he thinks it’s a little unfair, adding that he thinks that if it were somebody else than him and Bret was fighting with someone else, the audience might not have reacted the way they did at the time.
3. The Rock vs. Erick Rowan: The Shortest WrestleMania Match (6 seconds)
Dwayne Johnson, known by his ring name The Rock, appeared on WrestleMania 32 and, in a mere 6 seconds, managed to defeat The Wyatt Family’s Erick Rowan. The Rock had reportedly appeared to announce that the event had set an all-time attendance record with a record of 101,763 and was confronted by the Wyatt family.
After going back and forth, The Rock challenged them to a match, and Erick Rowan accepted his challenges and was defeated in 6 seconds. This led to breaking the previous shortest WrestleMania match record between Kane and Chave Guererro, which was 11 seconds.
4. Brock Lesnar: Youngest WrestleMania Main Eventer
Brock Lesnar, one of the most popular wrestlers in the industry, holds the record for being the youngest WrestleMania Main Eventer. He was 25 years old when he defeated The Rock at Summer Slam in 2002 and became the main eventer for WrestleMania 19, challenging Kurt Angle. Lesnar won the match, becoming a two-time WWE champion.
Popularly called The Beast Incarnate, Lesnar is the one who is responsible for ending The Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania in 2014. The wrestler was scheduled to make his return to WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble event as a participant in the Royal Rumble Match. But a lawsuit filed a few days before the Royal Rumble by a former employee resulted in his being removed from the Royal Rumble and replaced by Bron Breakker.
5. Hulk Hogan: Most Main Event Matches
Hulk Hogan is recognized as one of the biggest and most popular professional wrestlers of the 1980s. The beloved wrestlers hold the record for eventing seven out of the first eight WrestleMania.
According to Wrestling Inc., the wrestler was not part of the main event at WrestleMania IX, but he did close the event after defeating Yokozuna for the WWE title in a 22-second impromptu match. There have been rumors about Hulk Hogan appearing on WrestleMania 40 alongside The Undertaker and Stone Cold but nothing cannot be confirmed.
