With Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny set to release soon, Ford’s wealth should have increased. After all, he’s the face of the franchise and it’s impossible to imagine a Indiana Jones movie without his protagonist. But apparently, instead of getting a salary hike, he took a whopping $40 million pay cut for number 5.

“The studio secured Harrison in 2016, and they have to pay him no matter what. There are still a million specifics to nail down like the CGI to de-age Harrison and an incomplete script… The movie’s been plagued with problems from the start, and it didn’t help when Steven Spielberg quit as director for the first time in franchise history.”

The troubled history of the film perhaps reflects on its current poor Rotten Tomatoes critic scores. The movie currently has a 52% critic score after 29 reviews. Regarding Harrison Ford’s salary, $25 million might seem like a lot, but he was paid even more for Indiana Jones 4.

Harrison Ford has been working for nearly 6 decades now. As per his IMDb page, he has amassed 85 acting credits. Not to mention the fact that his films have grossed $9 billion globally, making him one of the highest-grossing stars with his movies. The Indiana Jones franchise has also contributed handsomely to this number.

As per The Richest, for the first Indiana Jones film, called Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), the actor pulled in $5.9 million. Interestingly, he was paid less for The Temple of Doom, the second film in the franchise. He took home just $4.5 million. The Last Crusade netted him a slightly above payday with $4.9 million.

But it was the fourth film in the franchise that made Ford his biggest paycheck. Men’s Health reported that for The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the actor took home a whopping $65 million. As such, it looks like the $25 million pay for Indiana Jones 5 is a bit of a downgrade for him. But if the film sets the box office on fire and grosses highly, Ford could get a cut from the profits.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be released on 30 June 2023.
