Harrison Ford is someone who has a lot of iconic roles in his bag. He is unafraid to take up roles that he knows could put him right in the spotlight. Stories may fade with time and some may turn to dust if not executed properly. To have a fifth part of the Indiana Jones franchise coming out in 2023 was peculiar initially. However, The fact that this would be the last run for Ford as the titular character makes it special nonetheless.

“I wanted to know what happened to him and how he handled it. [Director James] Mangold and I worked closely together, on that scene especially. Waking up in my underwear with the empty glass in my hand was my idea. I wanted to see Indiana Jones at a nadir point and rebuild him from the ground up.”

He is the face of Indiana Jones and loves his character dearly. His reason for coming back just for one last run was to see how a character who hasn’t picked up his whip and hat for so long gets back up. A book that becomes dusty on a bookshelf does not go out of stories.

It Was Easy For Harrison Ford To Come Back As Indiana Jones

Harrison Ford did not have to think a lot about whether or not he wanted to return as Indiana Jones. With a director like James Mangold and a co-star like Phoebe Waller-Bridge, it was obvious that things would be rather interesting. Since the movie marked Indiana Jones’ last run, Ford wanted to explore what he would do and how he could do it.

He wanted a conclusion that meant everything to him and the world. The titular character is seen not at the peak of his life, but rather in the concluding phase of it. Everything is grim and even the environment around him is tired. So for Ford, it was to pick the character up from the bottom and bring him to the top.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be available to watch in theatres from 30th June 2023.
