In one chaotic segment, Lopez and Fonda exchange a series of slaps that slowly got out of hand. As filming began, the Oscar-winning veteran revealed that Lopez got a bit carried away in the moment. Her enthusiasm led to her accidentally injuring Fonda on her face with her ring during the slapping session. In an appearance at The Drew Barrymore Show, the Coming Home actor looked back at the incident and jokingly called out her co-star for her action.

We have a slapping scene. I slap her, she slaps me, I slap her… Well, Jennifer, she had this enormous diamond ring. And so when she slapped me one of the times, it cut open across my eye. My eyebrow. She’s never apologized”.

As it turned out, the accidental injury did not do much damage, and Jane Fonda took the whole incident very sportingly and in good humor. Monster-in-Law went on to become a box office success mainly due to the chemistry between the Lopez and Fonda.

Jennifer Lopez Is A Razzie Nominee Again

It’s hard to imagine that a star with soaring popularity and a plethora of awards in the music and acting field like Jennifer Lopez can also be seen as someone who can perform under par. But that is exactly the case with her nomination in the Razzies 2024, in which she is up for the Worst Acting Performance of 2023 for The Mother. While the film’s narrative received flak for its unimpressive storyline, Lopez’s portrayal of a pregnant contract killer did not touch a chord with even the most ardent fans of the singer-actor.

Surprisingly, Lopez has been previously nominated a whopping 9 times for a Razzie and has won two of those awards, which ironically came for her collaboration with her husband Ben Affleck. The couple who were previously engaged in 2002 were dubiously awarded the worst screen couple for Gigli while Lopez also took home the Razzie for Worst Acting Performance in the same film. With The Mother receiving only a 42% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the singer will be hoping that she can escape being a Razzie winner this time around.
