Sebastian Stan is responsible for bringing one of our favorite Marvel characters, Bucky, to life. Thanks to his performance, the Winter Soldier quickly became one of the most loved characters in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, there is more to Sebastian Stan than just this one role.

Starring in the miniseries Pam & Tommy, which is based on real-life events, Sebastian Stand went through a transformation for the role of Tommy Lee. Despite this and the fact that the actor knows how to completely get into his characters, he despises the good old technique of method acting. Sebastian Stan expressed his disapproval of the same long time before Jonathan Majors’ lawyers waved off his abuse allegations by calling it method acting.

Although Sebastian Stan completely transformed himself for Pam and Tommy, he stated that he does not believe in using method acting to bring characters to life since it creates unnecessary “chaos” on the set, making things uncomfortable for the rest of the team. During his appearance on the In the Envelope podcast, Stan stated,

“I don’t believe in creating chaos for the purposes of [acting]. And I know actors that do that a lot. There’s a lot of people who do that – create chaos on set or chaos [with] the other people that they are working with, in order to give the scene this tension or whatever. To me, that just reads like a very narcissistic, kind of self-indulgent thing. It just reads like, ‘I’m afraid and I just want to torture everyone else because of it.”

One example to back Stan’s statement is when actor Wesley Snipes used method acting on the set of Blade to remain in character while off camera. This caused a great deal of awkwardness on set.

Stan’s comments came about a year ago, long before actor Jonathan Majors got accused of on-set abuse. And now, Majors’ lawyers are taking the stance that the allegations are baseless and people simply might have misunderstood the actor’s method acting techniques.

Jonathan Majors’ Lawyers Defend the Allegations

Recently, Rolling Stone came out with a report that stated Majors had reportedly been engaging in abusive behavior on the set of his films. However, Majors’ legal team was quick to strike the report down calling Rolling Stone Out. In a statement to IndieWire, Dustin Pusch, Majors’ lawyer, stated that the actor’s “immersive” method of acting skills was just misunderstood.

“Jonathan Majors vehemently denies Rolling Stone’s false allegations that he physically, verbally, or emotionally abused anyone, let alone any of his past romantic partners… The allegations that Mr. Majors got physical with or physically intimidated anyone on any movie set are downright false. Everyone who has worked with Mr. Majors knows that he employs an immersive Method acting style, and while that can be misconstrued as rudeness at times, those who know Mr. Majors and work in the industry have attested to his dedication to his craft as well as his kindness.”

As per Rolling Stone, the alleged behavior is nothing new and has been going on for the past decade. Owing to all this, Majors’ future in the entertainment industry seems to be hanging by a thread. He has been dropped from a few projects. And as for his big role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang the Conqueror, no comments have been made just yet.
