James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence joined Collider for the promotions of X-Men: Apocalypse. The pair talked about everything from their favorite scenes together to who ruins the most takes. In the interview, they stumbled upon the fun topic of pranks on set. When asked by the interviewer if they pranked the new cast members in the film, they stated,

“McAvoy: You hit them a lot, we all hit them a lot.

Lawrence: I don’t know why that was aimed at me.

McAvoy: I always think of that game as your game.

Lawrence: I brought it. I didn’t make it psychotic.

McAvoy: That’s fair.”

Did Lawrence just get a bit offended when McAvoy put all the blame on her? Maybe. Maybe not. However, as much as we know her, she was probably just kidding around. Answering the question, Lawrence stated, “No, I think that to put a prank – that takes like effort. You don’t do that to newbies.” When McAvoy stated that there was the usual back and forth, Lawrence quipped, “We generally abused them.” It looks like the cast and crew of X-Men: Apocalypse walked off the set with unforgettable memories!

When the Prank Wars Went Too Far

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Lawrence and McAvoy recalled how at one point on the set of X-Men: Apocalypse, the pranks got out of hand. For context, Lawrence used to be painted blue from head to toe for her portrayal of Mystique in the films. However, in this film, they figured out a skin-tight suit for her that didn’t require eight hours of painting sessions. But Lawrence had one complaint.

“It turns out they never had to do eight hours of full blown body paint ever. It’s like a blue pantyhose that goes around my whole body that I can’t sit to pee in. I can’t do any form of bathroom. Like the guys who made it were like, ‘Oh she’s a girl. She doesn’t go to the bathroom.’”

The actress continued that she had to pee standing up that too with the help of a funnel. This hilarious story reminded McAvoy of yet another hilarious story that happened on the set. The story revolves around the actor shooting Lawrence with a BB gun as she was in the bathroom, peeing.

“I’ve burst into her bathroom with a BB gun while she was trying to pee…We were telling this story the other day and we were like, So there we were and she was like huddled on the floor in her bathroom naked and me, Nick, and Michael were unloading on her.”

The room soon realized how wrong that sounded sending the entire audience into fits of laughter. Well, it’s never a dull day with Lawrence, is it?
