Ted (2012) star Mark Wahlberg became the chosen man to lead a game-inspired film that turned out to be a hit for the studios. According to a Deadline report, the chairman of the studio bragged about the Wahlberg-led film as it had opened to positive audience reviews and strong weekend collections.
The Hollywood Reporter has now mentioned in their latest piece that one of the producers on the film who usually works with ace director Christopher Nolan is looking to develop the sequel.

While major media outlets gave their reviews for the film, there was a part of hardcore enthusiasts that didn’t quite enjoy the adventure spectacle. Wahlberg was also accompanied by an established Marvel star.
Mark Wahlberg’s Victor Sullivan Expected To Come Back
According to producer Charles Roven, the film adaptation of Sony’s famous Uncharted game did incredibly well considering the time it was released.

He spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the performance of the Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland epic and said –
“Oh yeah! We had a really good time with that movie. The fans really liked the movie, and people who didn’t know anything about the game really liked the movie. So we are definitely looking to make another one of those.”
Last year, Variety published a report that said the film had faced challenges given the pandemic, but Sony Pictures’ president felt thankful that Roven was involved to make the ride smooth.
Fans Call For Scrapping The Franchise Entirely
Developed on a budget of $120 million, Mark Wahlberg’s Uncharted went on to accumulate a little more than 3X the figure and ended its global sales with $407 million.
Despite the film having Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland, fans who have been breathing Uncharted games expect the studio to call it quits.

Wasn’t this movie hot garbage and flopped at the box office, how is this getting a sequel like what am I missing?

The casting was terrible. Soured the whole film. Should’ve casted an older Sully and Nolan North

The Uncharted sequel, however, is not on Sony Pictures’ slate of films to be released for at least two years. The film could go into development in 2025 and release around 2026-27, as per ComingSoon report in late June this year. There is no update on if Mark Wahlberg or Tom Holland would come back.
Uncharted is currently streaming on Netflix worldwide.
