Starfield is not fully launched yet and speed runners are already making headlines with record completion times in the $200 million Bethesda game. The space exploration RPG was expected to be at least dozens of hours long if not hundreds but players with early access are smashing it out in a bunch of hours. One such speed run that’s the best so far is from a user Micrologist who beat the game in under 3 hours.

Speed Runner Beats Starfield in Under 3 Hours

Starfield is a massive game with a completionist run surpassing over 180 hours and such was the case with Bethesda’s Skyrim and Fallout 4 but players found ways to finish the game in a few hours. According to a report by VG247, the user Micrologist posted the speed run on YouTube and Discord server dedicated to Starfield speed running and clocked in a run at exactly 2 hours, 52 minutes, and 42 seconds to knock the main campaign over, the fastest as of now.

The video posted by Micrologist contains spoilers so players are advised to watch at their own risk. The video shows players completing the main story of the game where they can just blaze through but they have also skipped a lot as game director Todd Howard has said that the main quest will normally take somewhere around 30 to 40 hours to complete.

This record 3-hour speedrun will undoubtedly be broken in the coming times when the Starfield is fully launched and more and more players will try to experiment. For example, Skyrim, a massive game with a completionist run of 231 hours has a speedrun record of 29 minutes and 42 seconds whereas Fallout 4 has a record of 53 minutes and 40 seconds.

Speedrunners Are Pushing Starfield‘s Boundary

Speedrunners have already started breaking into different bugs and exploits in Starfield. An admin in a discord server called Meta asked the question about using third-person punching to warp or cut through in-game barriers, and after a while, it was found out that a small teleport can be triggered with this trick, however, clipping through the environment hasn’t been successful yet.

Players are testing every side of Starfield and pushing its boundaries to find loopholes and figure out how the game works. It’s still early days and with the anticipation Starfield has seen, the new wave of players will reveal new things about the game when it’s fully launched. A game with this size and endless possibilities will make sure that the 3-hour speedrun record doesn’t hold for long. Starfield is now available in early access for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
