Netflix adapted Eiichiro Oda’s great manga One Piece into a live action. One of the directors, Marc Jobst, opened up about how the series achieved such precision in adapting from the source material. One Piece revolves around Monkey D. Luffy’s rubber powers that the boy gained from eating a Devil Fruit.

One Piece’s live-action features Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, and Emily Rudd as Nami. The show has made its way to the platform and was showered with positive responses from viewers and critics alike. Jobst spoke in an interview with Digital Spy about the challenges they faced while filming the series.
What did One Piece’s director say regarding Taz Skylar’s Sanji?

According to Jobst, the lead actor had to learn several moves, including front flips, back flips, and forward rolls. The director added that he had to “give his body a kind of fluidity, which would then enable those big, stretching things to feel much more organic to him.”
Jobst told Digital Spy, “You know, Nami with her bow staff, Sanji with his… fighting with his feet. I wanted that to be very breakdance-based so that he was fighting with his feet, and spinning and turning, and doing all that kind of stuff.”
The cast of One Piece had quite a packed schedule while filming. The director of the show opened up about how the team would run lines, communicate with each other, and then continue to do the physical training in the gym while working with stunt professionals individually to choreograph their action scenes properly.
What were the reactions of the audiences towards One Piece’s cast?

Viewers have been appreciating the performance of One Piece’s cast, and they received a lot of positive feedback. Jobst stated that it is very crucial for all the members involved from the start to have actors “who could act and do all these emotional scenes” as well as be prepared for “physical and athletic” sequences, which played a significant point in creating the dynamic of the entire show.
“Because of the way that I wanted to shoot some of the special skills, and because of the way I wanted to shoot the action, I needed them to be at the centre of the heart of all these stunt sequences and these special effect sequences,”
Iñaki Godoy was even praised by the Mangaka of the series, Eiichiro Oda himself. Even Emily Rudd and Mackenyu were widely appreciated by the audiences as well. Netflix really nailed One Piece‘s live-action this time, and this show trended on the top 10 on the platform for several weeks.
