The Marvel Cinematic Universe has slated another Brie Larson adventure with Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris in The Marvels. Made with $274.8 million, the Nia DaCosta movie has been one of the most anticipated movies of this year.
However, a recent update from Marvel Studios regarding the movie has grabbed the headlines of many outlets and has caught the attention of the fans. The fans online have started debate about the newly revealed runtime of the movie.
The Marvels’ Record-Breaking Runtime
Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel sequel has received a record-breaking runtime in the history of MCU’s live-action movies. Captain Marvel had a runtime of 2 hours and 3 minutes while the upcoming MCU stale, The Marvels will run for just 1 hour and 45 minutes, the AMC Theatres website shows.
With the runtime update, The Marvels becomes the shortest MCU movie ever breaking the earlier record of The Incredible Hulk and Thor: The Dark World which set at 1 hour and 53 minutes. However, being the shortest movie of all 32 movies released by the studio, The Marvels has promising hype of being an action-packed adventure.
Now, it is up to the Marvel studios and director Nia DaCosta how they pull off the action-dense movie with promising output or to meet the expectations of the fans within the short runtime. Notably, The Marvels is not a solo adventure of Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel will also share the screen with her. Also, MCU regular Samuel L. Jackson is another integral part of the movie.
Fans Are Upset With The Runtime of The Marvels
Several fans have been concerned over the new runtime update of the movie ahead of its release. Given the fact that the movie is loaded with characters and has three prime leads, many fans are worried about how the MCU is going to pull it off within such a short runtime. Fans took to X to raise their concern.

The first 1 minute the title logo.. and the last 5 minutes the credits!
So technically the movie is 1hr and 38 minutes long 🤷♂️ What the hell..?— Sahil_Raj (@tsahilraj) October 19, 2023

Certainly, it was a brave move from the MCU, the actual narrative movie will be even shorter as credits and end-credit scenes will occupy some extra space within the same runtime. Even if it runs for 80 minutes, one thing is clear, it will be action-packed but the speed of the narrative will be an interesting thing to see.
The Marvels is scheduled for theatrical release on 10 November 2023.
