The first season of Netflix’s One Piece live-action series was an instant sensation and a roaring success around the world. One of the primary reasons for its success is the remarkable details in the magnificent One Piece world that are buried as easter eggs or references in the live-action version. There are numerous anime and manga Easter eggs in Netflix’s live-action One Piece season 1. These easter eggs highlight the essence of what makes One Piece such an enduring and adored franchise.
However, one of the biggest references that are hidden in the One Piece Live-Action is the mention of the Revolutionary Army, a military organization led by Luffy’s father Monkey D. Dragon. This is one of the most important aspects of the story and its inclusion in the first season of One Piece live-action is a big deal.
Revolutionary Army in the Original One Piece Manga and Anime
The Revolutionary Army is an extraordinarily powerful military organization. They are the only entity in the world that directly opposes the World Government and seeks to demolish it. Following the Ohara Incident, the Army was established. Their true goal is to overthrow the dictatorial and self-indulgent World Nobles. The majority of the Revolutionary Army’s efforts are aimed at liberating specific islands from local administrations that are subject to the World Government.
Founded by Monkey D. Dragon, Emporio Ivankov, and Bartholomew Kuma, the Revolutionary Army is currently managed by its supreme commander Dragon, and chief of staff Sabo, who manages the army’s members and is known as the “No. 2” of the organization. They are introduced quite late in the series, almost after 100 chapters. However, the live-action already shared a glimpse of the army in the first season.
Revolutionary Army’s Mention in the First Season of One Piece Live-Action
The live-action team chose to adapt even the smallest aspects to hint at what might be coming in the future of the live-action series. From the standpoint of the story, the early reference to the Revolutionary Army is the most significant of all the One Piece Action easter eggs.
The Revolutionary Army is a key faction in the “One Piece” world that is only truly established later in the series. While everyone is reacting to Luffy’s first bounty, Kaya can be seen reading a newspaper in the Netflix series. Next to Luffy’s bounty comes a report stating that the Revolutionary Army has captured Vira. Nami reads this exact item in the original series, however, she does not mention the army by name.
This is a pretty big deal for the series as the introduction of the Revolutionary Army in the first season itself can mean a lot of things for the future of the series, including the entry of Monkey D. Dragon in the second season which is very much anticipated by the fans.
