During an interview with ScreenRant, Mackenyu talked about his experience while filming the movie. He also stated how he was excited to see the response of the audience to the movie as it is very rare to see a Japanese American as the lead.

“This is a Japanese film in live action. It’s groundbreaking. They’ve never done this before. Well, technically they have but not with a Japanese American lead. It doesn’t happen very often. I’m definitely excited for that. I love the visual effects. It’s just amazing. I love how it looks. I’ve watched it three times already and I love it. So I hope people love it too.”

He also stated that he has watched it three times and he loves how the movie looks. He also stated that he hoped the people would love it too as this is a Japanese film in live-action. He stated that although the manga is old, the movie features a 2023 version of his character Seiya which would definitely be worth it.

Just 24 hours after its launch on May 12, 2023, it received a pathetic 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. There were huge hopes for this well-known anime live-action to thrive on the big screen. It disappointed fans and left them wondering about the future of their beloved franchise. Some fans believe that, while the special effects aren’t perfect, they’re nevertheless stunning, and that certain situations, such as the combat between Seiya and the Silver Saint, were well-executed.
