Apart from Loki Season 2’s success, which has seemingly marked the end of Tom Hiddleston’s chapter in the MCU, the past few years have been a slippery slope for Marvel. While the industry giant hoped phase 5 might turn things around, with Ant-Man 3, The Marvels, and most superhero releases in general failing, things aren’t looking great for superheroes as they once did.

Loki Writer Urges Marvel to Get Back to Prioritizing Quality and Giving Fans What They Want

While Eric Martin stressed the uncertainty of Hollywood and its ever-changing nature, he addressed the importance of storytelling and giving fans what they want. Unlike most of the MCU releases this year, Martin’s Loki season 2, where he served as the head writer, was a blooming success, delivering one of the best MCU narratives in recent years. He further explained focusing on making individual narratives great, which he deems the key to success. He told Esquire:

“I’m not sure with anything else, but I haven’t seen any dip in enthusiasm. I’ve seen an increase. The fans of the show seemed like they’ve only gotten more excited about it. So, I don’t know what to read. We can all kind of decipher that how we will. But I think we made a good show and people like it. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s about–you make something that’s quality. You can connect with the audience, and the audience is going to connect with you.”

Martin’s statements point out the major reason behind most superhero flicks’ failure this year, as the common problem prevalent among them was the lack of originality and rushed plotlines. And moving forward, fans will hope that Kevin Feige ensures future Marvel projects will be more in line with Loki than Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Eric Martin Shuts Down the Possibility of Loki Season 3

Speaking on the possibility of a third season, Eric Martin revealed that he approached Loki as a two-parter from the get-go, stating, “Where it goes beyond that, I don’t know”. He told CinemaBlend:

“We approached this as like two halves of a book. Season one, first half. Season two, we close the book on Loki and the TVA. Where it goes beyond that, I don’t know. I just wanted to tell a full and complete story across those two seasons.”
