GTA 6‘s trailer has been long-awaited by fans ever since the trailer was first announced to be coming in early December and was then revealed to come out on December 5. Rockstar Games went ahead and released the trailer almost 15 hours beforehand. Per speculation, this was due to the numerous leaks surrounding the trailer. One thing that Rockstar has stayed consistent with regarding trailer releases and announcements in general is nonchalantly breaking records. The trailer for GTA 5 also broke the record for the most-watched trailer for an action-adventure game on YouTube. Meanwhile, GTA 6 seems to be on track to break that record. GTA 6’s trailer has already shattered another of its predecessor’s trailer’s records in less than an hour. This is a testimonial to the hype that has been building up since the game was officially confirmed to be in development in 2022.

What was GTA 5’s trailer record that was broken by GTA 6?

The GTA 6 trailer is causing a stir on social media.

Leaks regarding GTA 6 have been doing the rounds since Aaron Kurtaj released official footage from the game’s development cycle last year. If anything, the leaks played a significant role in the game’s announcement timeline. For example, Rockstar announced the game’s development shortly after the game’s footage surfaced online.

A leak also prompted the video game giant to lift the curtains on indubitably the most anticipated game in recent years earlier than expected. Returning to the iconic GTA 5’s trailer release, which happened in 2011, 12 years ago, it currently sits at 96 million views; more than two-thirds of this number has already been reached by GTA 6’s trailer (currently at 73 million views) in less than 20 hours at the time of writing. GTA 5’s trailer also gathered 2.1 million likes on Youtube. GTA 6’s first trailer easily surpassed this within 35 minutes of release and currently stands at 6.8 million. This is 500 thousand more than thrice the likes received by GTA 5’s trailer.

Like any other announcement, some folks on social media were quick to be dismissive and pessimistic about the trailer. But, in all fairness, the trailer looks incredible. The trailer was expected to create a lot of noise on social media and break numerous records. By the looks of it, this is just the beginning, and plenty of records will possibly be broken by the GTA 6 trailer.

GTA 6 is expected to arrive in 2025, which is a mix of good and bad news for the title. It isn’t good news because gamers must wait another year before getting the title. On the contrary, it is good news because, after so much time in the development pipeline, the chances of the game being further delayed are significantly reduced. It is well known that Rockstar Games always releases its titles when they are finished products. Rockstar Games is a reputed company for the value it delivers with every product.
