But it’s timing, but it’s also been ten years since we made it … There was an amazing script in the works, but I think it would only have worked if we shot it eight years ago. But now, 2024 brings good news as Warner Bros signed a significant deal with Tom Cruise. As per The Hollywood Reporter, Cruise partnered with Warner Bros. to work on “original and franchise theatrical films” starting in 2024.

Following Tom Cruise signing the deal, Warner Bros. chiefs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy expressed their hope to lure the actor toward the Edge of Tomorrow sequel. The outlet noted, 

DeLuca and Abdy have also hoped to lure Cruise back for a follow-up to the 2104 film Edge of Tomorrow, which the studio already had in development before they took over.”

With the news of the deal and the media outlet reporting how the Warner Bros. chiefs are hoping for the 2014 movie’s sequel, fans are desperately waiting for the greenlight on Edge of Tomorrow 2. While the news is indeed heartwarming, the report added a significant detail that Warner Bros won’t produce anything starring Cruise anytime soon, since the actor is busy with possibly the last Mission: Impossible movie. 

So, it seems while there’s a possibility of Edge of Tomorrow 2, starring Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise, the movie won’t be starting its development and production until 2025.
