Robert Pattinson’s next, Mickey 17, is based on Edward Ashton’s Mickey7 that hit the shelves in 2022. It didn’t take long for people to confirm that a movie was under works, with none other than Bong Joon-Ho taking the reins of direction and writing in his own hands.
If that wasn’t enough to make people fall in love with the idea of the project, Robert Pattinson himself was all set to star in the project. The Twilight star’s long list of fans were raring to see their favorite star back in action. Much to their dismay, it seems likely that their hopes might be dashed to the ground.

Mickey 17 was slated to be released on March 29, 2024, by Warner Bros. Pictures. But times have not been kind to the studio. Times have been tumultuous. And those tumultuous times have witnessed the scrapping of a few projects.
One of the projects that faced the axe was a movie produced by James Gunn and starring John Cena. Warner Bros. Discovery, under the leadership of David Zaslav, shelved the project, in spite of the fact that the movie was almost fully completed.

Coyote v. Acme, a $30 million movie that revolves around the classic Looney Tunes character, showcasing them in a new light, was shelved for the sake of a tax write-off. The movie shared the same fate as Batgirl. And fans are scared that Mickey 17 would share the same fate.
honestly i think there’s like a 60% chance this gets cancelled for a tax write off too, which is horrifying to even consider https://t.co/IRPkRNdxP5

The times are uncertain. No one can be sure what is going to happen. The movie directed by Bong Joon-Ho is currently in post-production. We can only hope that it doesn’t share the same fate as Batgirl.
