Dead by Daylight is on a bit of a streak right now. With great crossovers galore and frequent updates, it has slowly become one of the biggest multiplayer games at the moment, carving its niche within the industry.
Now, though, it seems that the game is ready to take things to the next level. Alongside its reveal of the latest set of crossovers and a single-player game set in the same universe that looks absolutely bonkers, the game is also finally bringing a much-awaited game mode to its player base.
Dead by Daylight Is Bringing a 2v8 Mode to Dial Its Nightmares to an Eleven
Dead by Daylight has always carried with it a devoted player base that’s proactive in coming up with the latest strategies and plans to take on the game’s nightmarish killers. However, it may be time for the players to relearn everything they know about the game.
During the Year 8 Anniversary Broadcast, developer Behaviour Interactive, alongside announcing another set of exciting new content drops, revealed the game’s latest and highly-awaited addition, a “two killers versus eight survivors” mode, bringing more chaos to Dead by Daylight’s table than ever before.
Reaction to the announcement has been an overwhelmingly positive one, with fans already speculating on all the features this game mode will have. A lot of them simply want to see the killers fight each other, Freddy vs. Jason style, except for the fight being somewhat good.
What exciting stuff may come packaged with the game mode remains to be seen. For now, Behaviour has stated that Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 battle for survival will take place on five new large-scale maps, feature team powers, the ability to replace Perks for a pseudo-class system, and the addition of Cages in place of the usual hooks.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the developer manages to balance and evolve the near-perfectly refined gameplay loop of the standard 1v4 battles for survival that the game is known for. What’s equally fascinating, however, are Dead by Daylight‘s other reveals and what awaits the players in the future.
The Latest Addition to the Dead by Daylight Universe Is Its First Standalone Game
Right after announcing a new Dungeons and Dragons and Castlevania crossover, Behaviour Interactive also revealed a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming standalone title, The Casting of Frank Stone. The game is set in the Dead by Daylight universe and is being developed by Supermassive Games.
Given Supermassive’s portfolio, there is much speculation that the game will more or less be an interactive movie of sorts with a branching narrative, similar to Dark Pictures Anthology or Until Dawn.
Many within the Dead by Daylight community hope for the game to further expand on the lore of the game’s universe, though some believe that it will only bring up more questions than answers. As it stands, not much is clear about the game’s narrative, but the fog should shortly disappear as Behaviour and Supermassive reveal more information about the game in the future.
