Destiny 2 is one of the most popular live-service titles and one of the few games with a live-service formula that works well. Especially after it went free-to-play, the game enjoyed much newfound popularity.
Even in 2024, tens of thousands of players will load up the game on a daily basis. The Final Shape is an upcoming major expansion for the game, which will go live on June 4, 2024. Along with the expansion, some much-needed changes will be made to the game.

Destiny 2’s upcoming expansion looks promising, but it may or may not reinstate the title to its former glorious status. But it is all set to change significantly how things are done in the game. One such change players have long awaited is the end of the Weapon Sunset mechanic.
This mechanic was introduced to motivate players to use new weapons instead of sticking with their old weapons throughout the game; this also involved removing certain weapons from various playlists. But, per a Twitter post from Destiny Bulletin, an account that often posts reliable news about the game, this mechanic is all set to be removed:
This means the power limit currently imported on weapons the player may have in their vaults will be rendered null and void, and such weapons will also become relevant and usable when the update goes live on June 4.
Other Important Updates Coming to Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Among the many changes and additions to the game in the upcoming expansion, Destiny 2: The Final Shape will also see the return of commander Zavala, which was appreciated by fans, too. But ridding the game of weapon Sunset isn’t the only gameplay or power-related change coming to the game.
The entire list of changes can be found here, but some significant updates with the upcoming expansion include changes to the game’s HUD; Bungie is also removing Legendary Shards from the game’s meta.
The game will also introduce a significant change, such as an account-wide power level, meaning players would no longer have to level up all three characters individually. While these were some of the more significant changes, the minor ones can be read at length in the list linked above.
