Ryan Reynolds has come a long way after fighting to bring his own version of Deadpool to the big screen in 2016. The character has received a fitting redemption after the epic fail portrayal in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

As the actor can finally say he ‘owned’ the role, Reynolds received writing credits for Deadpool 2, giving him a say on how the character would fare throughout the story. He’s also one of the writers for Deadpool & Wolverine, an accomplishment that fans could say he truly earned.
Hugh Jackman Praises Ryan Reynolds’ Scriptwriting Skills
Ryan Reynolds has finally dived into the world of scriptwriting. After contributing to the script of Deadpool 2, he continued being part of the scribe team in the third installment. His co-star, Hugh Jackman, is very proud of his friend’s achievement. He said via Film Updates:
What a brilliant writer he is. I’ve done quite a lot of movies so you look for great writing, and he’s a great writer, and writing a character that I’ve known for and done for 24 years. He’s amazing.

In 2018, Reynolds shared via Build Series how he, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick managed to pen Deadpool 2. He said that after 11 years of pushing the story, they had “8 years to get that script right,” but for the sequel, they only had eight months.
It’s also that you’re in a movie that is meta and that is self-referential so you don’t want to sort of skate on that thin ice of referencing the sequel thing. We really sort of steered clear of that and really just wanted to ground the story and actually that’s sort of an emotional bedrock.

Deadpool & Wolverine is the collaborative effort of Reynolds, Shawn Levy, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. It was also Reynolds who was adamant to bring back Wolverine on the big screen and have him team up with Deadpool, a dream that many fans have been praying for years.
Reynolds’ writing career doesn’t stop with Deadpool. He’s also confirmed to produce and star in Boy Band, an upcoming comedy film he penned with Jesse Andrews for Paramount Pictures.
Ryan Reynolds Has The Edge Over Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt

It seems like Reynolds is getting more and more invested in writing for movies, an endeavor that is not yet seen in many A-list Hollywood actors such as Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.
Cruise is well-known for his hands-on involvement in the Mission: Impossible films, but he has yet to touch on the script. Pitt, on the other hand, only works as a producer and actor in many of his movies. Even Jackman hasn’t written a script despite his lengthy career.

Reynolds has a bright future in penning scripts because of the success of his Deadpool movies. He’s also great at comedic performances, which can be helpful when writing humorous lines. Hopefully, the actor will explore this field even more in the near future.
Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26.
