One Piece is all set to reach its finale, and some characters have solidified their statuses as enemies to the Straw Hats. Imu, the head of the World Government, might be the ultimate villain that Luffy will have to face. Yet, Eiichiro Oda has not revealed more than a few sentences about him.
The biggest question at the moment is whether Imu has any Devil Fruit powers. Oda has only given fans murky details on the shrouded antagonist, but a crazy One Piece theory claims to know the powers that are being hidden by Imu.
Vegapunk’s Message About Tides is Crucial in One Piece
Imu’s Devil Fruit power has been under great debate ever since he was introduced in One Piece. However, nothing has been confirmed so far. Finally, one fan theory has attempted to dissect the condition of the world in One Piece before deducting what power Imu might have.
The theory is inspired by Vegapunk’s message, which states:
There is no stopping the tide, the fate of the world now rests in the hands of the one who finds it – the person who lays claim to the One Piece.
This leads one to think that tides might play an important role in the finale of One Piece. Given that the genius inventor has always warned against a sinking world, it naturally leads one to think that tidal waves might play a huge role in the story. Some of the factors that contribute to tides are the moon’s gravitational pull on Earth, and the planet’s rotation.
If the Earth ever stopped rotating, not only would it cause all masses on Earth to get uprooted and displaced, but it would also have a major effect on the oceans surrounding the continents. Since the Earth bulges at the poles due to centrifugal force, the water from the oceans would flow towards them and accumulate near the poles, leaving behind a single massive strip of land at the equator, that would circle around the globe. Now think if that sounds similar to the Red Line in One Piece.
Imu Has the Power to Manipulate Global Gravity in One Piece
The Red Line is a ring-like continent that wraps around the world of One Piece. It is an almost impassable stretch of land due to its height and is constructed of a group of islands that are connected together. This could mean that something is amiss with the world of One Piece; otherwise, the oceans would not have moved away from a central strip of land.
Since days and nights still rotate in One Piece, the world has not stopped rotating. However, someone might be controlling the Earth’s gravity to create the Red Line. This leads suspicion to fall on Imu, the one person whose Devil Fruit powers are still unknown.
If Imu holds the power to manipulate gravity on a global level, it could easily explain the existence of the Red Line. In fact, the villain might be the one who is drowning out the rest of the land by holding the water near the poles. It is not yet clear what purpose it might serve the World Government, but if Imu can control gravity on such a global level, it stands as a testament to his power.
Luffy’s battle with Imu might even become too challenging for the Straw Hat. His latest Gear 5 level might not even suffice in the upcoming fight with this monstrous ability user.
