Created by Jeff Trammell, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will take the web-slinger back to high school and put a twist to the storyline. Exploring what it would be like if Norman Osborn was Peter Parker’s mentor, instead of Iron Man, the upcoming show is set to deliver some epic stuff. More than anything, with Colman Domingo playing Osborn aka Green Goblin, the show is set to have more eyes on it.

At the recent D23 event, Marvel unveiled an exciting new animated series titled Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. According to reports from Collider, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will explore the story of MCU Peter Parker ahead of his meeting with Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War. Therefore, setting the stage for an unusual dynamic, at D23, Marvel showed a clip of the upcoming series, which not only showed Norman Osborn helping Peter Parker but also revealed the actors behind the roles.

Following the brief clip of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, we learned that Hudson Thames will voice Peter Parker in the upcoming series. Despite previous speculations about whether Tom Holland will take on the role, Marvel confirmed that Thames will indeed reprise his voice role. But more than anything, the biggest surprise appeared when fans realized that Colman Domingo is voicing the role of Norman Osborn aka Green Goblin.

For the last two decades, Green Goblin has become one of the most iconic Spider-Man villains, with Willem Dafoe portraying the character in Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man films. Thereafter, Dafoe surprisingly reprised his role as Norman Osborn in Spider-Man: No Way Home after Peter Parker messed up with time and Doctor Strange’s magic. But since Dafoe was not the MCU Spider-Man’s villain, Colman Domingo will get the chance to flesh out the dynamic between MCU Peter Parker and Green Goblin.

Colman Domingo was Previously Eyed to Play Kang the Conqueror in the MCU

Joining the Marvel Universe with Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, seems like a huge opportunity for the Euphoria actor Colman Domingo, especially after he was rumored to be replacing Jonathan Majors as Kang in the MCU. According to reports, after Majors was dropped by Marvel in December 2023, after being found guilty of harassment and assault, Domingo was said to be in line to play the character.

With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki already establishing Kang as the big baddie, Colman Domingo was expected to play the role, after Jonathan Majors’ exit. Even the Rustin star had addressed the rumors during an interview with ET at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala. Addressing the claims that he’s first in line to take up the Kang mantle following Majors’ departure, Domingo appreciated fans’ passion.

I don’t know, I’m always looking at what I have to do right now… I know there’s talk and conversations around, and I don’t know how much is true. I don’t even get that from my team, I can’t tell if it’s true or not. Somehow my name is out there in the world [and] I like the idea of just having your name called and someone speaking lovingly and kindly about something is a beautiful thing.

However, on a recent note, with Robert Downey Jr‘s return to the MCU as formidable Doctor Doom, Marvel seemingly planned on shifting gears and phasing Kang out of the MCU. While previously fans had expected to witness Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2026, Marvel cleverly changed the name and storyline of the film into Avengers: Doomsday to introduce Victor von Doom as the replacement of Kang the Conqueror.
