Starfield’s hype before launch was one full of hope and excitement. The game’s hype after launch, however, watered down a community that is still trying to enjoy the game while expecting updates, expansions, and so on. However, a smaller part of the community is upset over a much-awaited real-life feature that came along with Starfield’s Constellation Edition.

This premium pre-order pack includes many bonuses for fans, but one piece of artifact stands out – a striking watch that resembles the one in the game. However, it hasn’t been working for a few months now, and many in the community have had a similar experience.

Starfield Constellation Edition was an expensive purchase that eventually down the community

Starfield broken promises
The watch resembles the one in the game but doesn’t work like it should.

Before its launch, the makers of the game did a great job at marketing and building up hype that got fans expecting a lot from the game. According to Bethesda’s official marketplace, these are all the in-game and real-life items fans received when buying the $299.99 Constellation Edition of the game.

Upon pre-ordering, players receive the ‘Old Mars Skin Pack’ in-game bonus items which include:

  • Deep Mining Helmet
  • Laser Cutter
  • Deep Mining Pack

On purchasing the physical version of it, players received:

  • Constellation Patch
  • Credit Stick with Laser-Etched Game Code
  • Starfield Chronomark Watch and Case
  • Up to 5 days early access
  • Steelbook Display Case
  • Starfield Base Game
  • Constellation Skin Pack: Equinox Laser Rifle, Spacesuit, Helmet and Boost Pack
  • Shattered Space Story Expansion (once the game is released)
  • Access to Starfield Digital Artbook and Original Soundtrack

As interesting as these items may seem, one of them was supposed to stand out; the Starfield Chronomark Watch. Unfortunately, Redditors like Moderninferno have been voicing out their concerns over the watch not working as expected anymore, and Bethesda isn’t really doing much to fix this.

Starfield’s online community isn’t too happy with the experience so far

Starfield struggle
From a broken watch to broken promises, what else are fans up for?

The post details the main issue, highlighting a problem that has been persisting for a while now. Unfortunately, there’s no real response from Bethesda about the same:

I’m kind of at a loss, and genuinely regretting paying so much money for a broken watch.

Basically, it just doesn’t turn on. Tried all the steps they laid out, and did everything asked. The ticket is just sitting saying they’re reviewing the information I provided since November.

Many users like Moderninferno have been facing a similar issue. Some have been told that there will be a replacement for the watch, but the stock isn’t ready yet.

Others are admitting their regret over the purchase and are disappointed with how poor the support/communication from Bethesda has been about the entire issue.

Having a persisting issue is like adding fuel to an existing fire; Starfield’s current player count and ‘Mostly Negative’ reviews on Steam aren’t really doing the game any favors. However, despite the quality of the game, sometimes its merchandise and pre-order bonuses remind players of the excitement and interest they’ve had over a period of time.

But, in the case of Starfield, it seems that everything is just working against the game instead of working for it.

While there’s no promise of a quick fix for something like this at the moment, other posts in the subreddit try to keep things active and interesting thanks to mods, DLC hype, and more. Have you experienced something like this with a game’s pre-order? Let us know in the comments below.
