So, you just got Super Mario Bros. Wonder on the Nintendo Switch and are looking for some tips and tricks to help you traverse the flower kingdom in search of the wonder seeds? Then look no further, as we have some of the best tips and tricks that can be used throughout the game from start to finish and can make your adventure with Mario and friends so much easier and fun.
I will start by saying that all of these tips and tricks can be done in both solo and multiplayer modes, but depending on how you play the game, it could differentiate how easy or hard these tips and tricks will be to pull off, especially if you are in 4-person multiplayer and everyone is flying across the screen in chaos mode.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder Powerups are a Must
At the start of the game, each player will be given the option to choose between multiple different characters, from the usual offenders to a few different colored versions of Toad, Yoshi, and the Nabbit.
Each of these characters has its own appeal, especially to those who are familiar with them, such as Yoshi being able to do a special jump that allows them to climb higher and stay in the air longer than other characters. What makes these characters even more unique is the fact that they do not take damage, allowing them to be characters suitable for kids to play as they do not struggle, but sadly, these characters cannot use the power-ups that are available in the game.
After selecting a character, you will be introduced to the game and be able to explore the fun and colorful levels within. When it comes to each level, the game will generally provide the power-ups that are needed to complete the level.
If you’re playing in co-op mode, the game will also provide each player with a power-up, as long as one player doesn’t try to get greedy. If that does happen, fear not, as there is the ability to store a bonus power-up, and you only need to hold down the A button and you will be able to summon a balloon that you can pop and reclaim the power-up your family or friend stole.
There is also the chance that you could miss out on these power-ups, however unlikely. Luckily for you, once you progress through the first level and reach a water fountain, there is a secret hidden block directly in the center above it that can provide you with even more power-ups.
As you progress in your adventure in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, you will eventually come across a rather unique blue flower with an ever-expanding aura around it. This is called a wonder flower, and once you come into contact with this flower, everything in the world goes completely insane, as pipes begin to move all on their own and there are opportunities to get extra coins, collectible coins, and even special power-ups later in the game.
For many of the levels within Super Mario Bros. Wonder, there will be a flag at the end of the level, and the higher you go, the better your score will be. To achieve this feat, especially in the beginning levels, you will be required to do a running jump to get the height and speed necessary to reach the top. To do this, you will need to hold down the Y button and press B at the perfect time to get as much distance and height as you can.
What may come as a shock to you, and I will refrain from spoilers so you can experience it for yourself, is that Super Mario Bros. Wonder has some rather unique levels. Within these levels, you will need to activate the wonder flower, and once it is activated, you will be greeted with an interesting scene. But be warned: the enemies during this time are not attempting to hurt you, but they can still hurt you if you run at them head-first.
Throughout Super Mario Bros. Wonder, you will encounter all sorts of enemies that will catch you off guard if you don’t know how to deal with them, such as the Skedaddler. This enemy is quite unique as it mainly attacks with a ranged attack, but once you try and get close enough to do the classic head bounce, it will run away until it encounters a solid surface.
This may come as a shock to many players, but your first thought shouldn’t always be to kill this little critter, that is, if you can catch it. For example, in one secret room, which you can access in the third level of the game through a red pipe, there is one little Skedaddler, and when they shoot their projectile towards you if you time it right and jump onto the projectile, it will send you flying into the sky, providing an opportunity to get coins and collectibles.
Badges and Wonder Seeds – Don’t Miss Them
As you progress through Super Mario Bros. Wonder, you will eventually stumble upon badges that can be used within the game. Each of these badges provides a unique benefit for players to enjoy, such as a badge that allows characters to glide using their hates or other items to reach locations that are too far out of reach for a simple jump.
To earn these badges, you need to take part in special badge challenges that will test your skills in numerous different ways, such as a wall bounce challenge or a time trial while being chased by a horde of angry bulls.
Finally, throughout the game, you will be tasked with finding wonder seeds within each level; some can be found by completing certain achievements within a level or by finding secret locations through the warp pipes that fill the locations.
After finding these wonder seeds, you will be able to use them throughout the game to open up certain locations that can benefit you in the long run. For example, you can use these wonder seeds to open up shops within the game where you will be able to acquire abilities you may not have or even acquire 1-ups to stay alive longer.
Or if you just want to focus on completing the game and aren’t worried about having power-ups saved up for a rainy day, you can just focus on getting enough wonder seeds to open up the boss castle in the area that blocks you from continuing the game.
