Harrison Ford Became Emotional Accepting the Career Achievement Award From Indiana Jones Director

It was when host Chelsea Handler gave a shoutout to Harrison Ford, calling him her celebrity crush. She then gave way to Mangold, who stepped in to hand Ford a trophy. Firstly, he went on to introduce Ford, saying (covered via Variety):

“Harrison Ford is a star. However, I submit tonight that he is a variable hypergiant. A star so big, he contains multitudes. A star so unique, he attracts other stars. A star so bright, he has warmed each of our lives in this room, in this audience, and likely on this planet.”

The director then delved deep into Ford’s cinematic filmography. He highlighted his contributions to cinema with films like American Graffiti to Blade Runner, Working Girl, Air Force One, The Fugitive, and the iconic Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.

After receiving the achievement, the 81-year-old actor couldn’t hold back the feels. In a touching moment, he thanked everyone who contributed to his cinematic journey saying, “I’m here because of a combination of luck and the work of wonderful directors, writers, filmmakers. I feel enormously lucky. I’m happy for this honor and I appreciate it very much.”

The Hollywood movie mogul also thanked his real-life leading lady, Calista Flockhart. With a sly grin, he acknowledged her unwavering support. “I wanna thank my lovely wife … who supports me when I need a lot of support — and I need a lot of support,” he said.
