The series premiered a successful first season which showed the epic battle between the Northern Water Tribe and The Fire Nation and now fans are waiting for the second season. Although the original series had a lot of successors that portrayed the story of other Avatars too, Netflix’s adaptation might only focus on the battle between Aang and the fire nation.

However, the series has also brought back some sad memories from the original show that proved to be quite a difficult moment for fans. The worst one among them was the death of Aang and his ally/friend Sokka. Fans recently expressed their sadness about the death of their favorite characters on X(Formerly Twitter).

Aang and Sokka Had To Die in Avatar The Last Airbender

Aang and Sokka’s death was portrayed in the sequel series of Avatar, called The Legend of Korra. Although Avatars typically had much longer lifespans than ordinary humans, Aang’s actions, which included fleeing and freezing himself for a century, resulted in his early death in the series.

He uses the Avatar State to stay in suspended animation for extended periods, which leads to issues developing as he approaches the conclusion of the middle years of his life. Aang passed away at the age of 66, leaving behind Katara and three children. However, Sokka rose to become the leader of the Southern Water Tribe.

It has been determined that when Sokka was 74 years old, he and the others defended Korra, the next Avatar, against an organization called Red Lotus, which may have resulted in his death. Although their deaths were necessary to move the story further, they still had a major impact on the fans of the series.

Fans shared their anger towards the writers for killing off two of the most interesting characters of the series. While Aang’s death was still understandable, Sokka could have had some kind of major impact on the series. He could have helped Korra understand her powers as he saw Aang struggling with them initially.
