Ryan Reynolds aims to strike gold once again with another heist film. According to Deadline, the pitch has received seven big bids from studios and streamers. The deal will be closed by early next week, and given the heated bidding war, the pitch itself may amass a whopping seven-figure sum—an unusual amount even for a high-concept pitch.
Simon Kinberg is attached as the producer of the project, along with Reynolds. Kinberg, known for producing many X-Men films, is also the producer of Reynolds’ much-anticipated Deadpool 3. Dana Fox, known for her successful works like The Lost City and Cruella, will write the script. The project promises a high-octane heist film, blending the Free Guy actor’s signature style of action and comedy.
As for the film’s production start date, it is impossible to determine at this time as the Spirited actor has a number of projects in development. The excitement surrounding Deadpool 3 is rising each day, with the film set to hit theaters in mid-2024. Another major project, IF, where he collaborates with The Office star John Krasinski, is also currently in development. Reynolds has also signed up for the Apple TV film, Mayday, which co-stars Kenneth Branagh.

Ryan Reynolds’ last two heist films, 6 Underground and Red Notice, were successful among Netflix viewers. While the former received some polarized reviews, audiences loved his chemistry with Dwayne Johnson in the latter. Netflix has already announced two sequels for Red Notice, to be shot back-to-back. Reynolds, Johnson, and Gal Gadot are expected to return to their roles in these films.
Besides the Red Notice sequels, The Adam Project actor will also star in the Netflix heist comedy Caper Conundrum, directed by Edgar Wright. Wright, known for his work on heist movies like Baby Driver, will likely involve other big stars in the film. The logline for the film reveals that the story will follow a group of eccentric thieves led by Max Turner, played by Reynolds.
Caper Conundrum has also not received a production start date. However, audiences will certainly get to see a lot of Ryan Reynolds in theaters and streaming platforms in the coming years.
