After getting a brief glimpse of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock / Daredevil in Echo, fans are hyped for his larger return in the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again. In Echo, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil faces off against Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez / Echo. However, if rumors are to be believed this won’t be the last time the Man Without Fear will face another superhero who is a person of color.
According to reports, the comic book superhero White Tiger will make their first appearance in the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again. The report has also sparked fan requests for an authentic portrayal of the character, true to their heritage in the comics. As a result, viewers must be curious to learn about White Tiger’s connection to Daredevil and ethnic background in the comics. Here is everything you need to know about White Tiger’s potential introduction to the MCU.
White Tiger Reportedly Set to Appear in Daredevil: Born Again
Daredevil: Born Again is expected to focus on the MCU’s street-level heroes while centering on Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock / Daredevil. According to a new report from insider Daniel Richtman, aka DanielRPK, who has shared reliable information in the past, the series will also introduce White Tiger to the MCU.
Created by Bill Mantlo and George Pérez, White Tiger is a mantle in the Marvel Comics held by five different individuals. Hector Ayala was the original White Tiger, while his niece, Angela del Toro, and younger sister, Ava Ayala, later succeeded him. Kasper Cole and an unnamed tiger-human hybrid also carried the White Tiger mantle at different points in the comic books.
In DanielRPK’s tweet, the image of Ava Ayala’s White Tiger is shared, implying this iteration of the character will appear in the MCU. However, in the comics, Angela del Toro’s White Tiger is most closely tied with Matt Murdock / Daredevil. Murdock failed to defend del Toro’s uncle, Hector Ayala, in court, leading to a fight between her and Daredevil. Hence, the Angela del Toro iteration of White Tiger could be introduced in Daredevil: Born Again, with a similar storyline.
Fans Want an Authentic Version of White Tiger in the MCU
The news of White Tiger’s debut in Daredevil: Born Again sparked excitement among fans. In the comics, the original White Tiger, Hector Ayala, is from San Juan, Puerto Rico. His niece and sister, Angela del Toro and Ava Ayala are also Puerto Rican by descent. As a result, some fans have called for an authentic portrayal of the character, true to their comic book roots as Puerto Ricans.
Here is what fans are saying about White Tiger’s potential appearance in Daredevil: Born Again on X.
Please keep the mantle Puerto Rican. They made America Chavez Mexican in Multiverse of Madness. They made Yo-Yo Rodriguez Colombian in Agents of SHIELD. Us Puerto Ricans keep losing all of our Marvel heroes to other countries.
