Kaiju No. 8’s anime debut has been one many fans have been waiting for ever since it was first announced. So much so that of the season, it was perhaps the most anticipated of them all. Having the contributions of Western music merged with a classic story, Naoya Matsumoto’s tale had a lot to look forward to.
Following a tale perhaps told many times with a twist that makes all the difference, Kaiju No. 8 is both a successful manga and now an anime. If anime-only fans wish to indulge more in that world, the manga is always open for them. However, that is not all.
So far, the series has already promised fans with two different spin-offs. That may not be enough, considering that a third is also on its way.
Kaiju No. 8 Announces Third Spin-Off Series
As shared by Manga Mogura RE on X, Kaiju No. 8 officially announced yet another spin-off manga titled Relax. After Kaiju No. 8 Exclusive on Third Division and B-Side, this would be the third of the series. Although not by Naoya Matsumoto, Watanabe Kizuku will be responsible for the upcoming project.
The artist is best known for having worked on Assassination Classroom’s spin-off mangas as well. So it is safe to say that the project is in good hands. It is set to release on June 4th, 2024, through Saikyou Jump. Now that the anime is also airing, this announcement is just the cherry on top.
While not much is known about the upcoming project, it will shift the focus from the serious battles and forming tension in Kaiju No. 8 to what the main characters do when they are simply relaxing. It can become one of those mangas fans can enjoy when they don’t want to read the heavy and hard-hitting aspects of the series but still want to learn more about their beloved characters.
An Unmistakable Advantage
Kaiju No. 8 Relax may be a more light-hearted series that has nothing but soft stories to accompany it, but it would speak volumes about the characters within the series. Shonen projects often add fillers and introduce OVAs to better establish their characters for the audience.
A character is more than what the screen or page shows them to be, and those sides can be explored through fillers that some fans might willingly skip as well.
Kaiju No. 8 takes the need to add those fillers into an entirely separate manga. It could incorporate more humor, a relaxed tone, and no sense of oncoming danger while still sticking to the core of what Kafka and the rest of the characters are.
Kaiju No. 8 is now streaming on Crunchyroll and X.
